Thomas was made using the Wilton Choo-Choo Train pan. I used a pound cake recipe after a collapsing train incident 2 years ago. He's frosted in buttercream.

Every thing is edible except the candle, used 1 cup cake for the Engine and face, and baked the other cakes in mini loaf pans, used fondant, candy and BC. Alex loved it

Thank you to Merissa and Newbeebaker for your guidance. It looks better than I thought I was capable of producing.....just peek at my recycling truck (Ugly!). I still have much to improve on though.

3D Thomas the Train Birthday Cake. Made this for my son's 3rd Birthday. Used the Wilton 3D train pan and tried to make it look like Thomas as much as possible. 3D cake is homemade yellow pound cake (better consistency for a 3D cake), and the bottom cake is a 9x13 french vanilla cake. All is BC icing. Very fun and easy to make, just alot of time.

My son wanted a "gate crossing" cake for his birthday. I brainstormed with my husband and got inspired from a few cakes I seen on CC. Came up with this. Bottom is a double 10" with BC covered with MMF, top layer is double 6" frosted with BC and covered with MMF. Made the "tunnel" with rice krispies covered with MMF. Trees are all gumpaste with MMF stones, BC grass & flowers. I think it turned out great but the pictures don't really capture its true beauty.

This cake took forever, the cars (13 of them) are graham crackers with RI to hold them together. The rocks are jelly beans, the mountain is 3 layers of cake, yellow, choc, and white all with raspberry filling. The tracks are chocolate twizzlers cut down to size and the cars did have wheels which were mini oreos( they get really soft when left out in the open. Thanks for looking

This was a big cake. It made 40 party-sized slices. There was three layers of Choc WASC with raspberry and then 2 layers of scratch vanilla pound with a hint of almond with banana filling. It was a big undertaking, but was a huge hit!!

This is the cake I made for my son's 3rd birthday. While there are a few Thomas kits out there, I decided to 'wing' it with the Wilton pan and made my own fondant face.

Chocolate cake and chocolate ganache between layers.
Used a kit by Decopac (Face, smoke stalks, wheels, coal bin) and iced with buttercream. Decided to use star tip #18 instead of smooth buttercream for texture.

My Son's 2nd birthday cake! My first attempt at a 3D cake and my first Thomas the Tank Engine
cake. This took 16 hours to carve and decorate but it was a labor of love. Everyone at the place
we had the party at was like, "That's a cake?!?!" I passed out a lot of business cards that day!
I'm doing another T.T.T. cake in August. That one is going to be fondant covered and about 1/2 the size. I'll post pics when I'm finished.

A friend and I worked on this for some time before my friend gave up and I decided I was determined to get a Thomas out of this if it killed me. lol here was the results

This customer ordered two cakes (other to be posted in a little while) and drove an hour and a half to pick them up. Thomas and all decorations are MMF, 10-inch is yellow and 6-inch is white both with BC filling and icing. I was happy with how it turned out, even though my first real attempt at modeling (Thomas) was just a tad too big. TFL
