The bride wanted it to look like there were tattoos on her cake and she was really inspired by Collete Peters Stained Glass cake, so this is what we came up with.
It is a 16" square, 12" hex, and 8" round, covered in fondant, I outlined all the tatoos with black icing first and then filled in the colors with colored piping gel.

This cake was for my daughter who wanted a cake that resembled a rose tattoo - and also the new Red Rhino shoes she just got. This cake was fun! And easy!

A friend's 30th birthday cake, which started off being really heinous and was actually saved by the candy tattoos. Note to self: never use cake spray again. Note to self: topsy-turvy cakes are your enemy.
The party theme was "Rock Stars" so I thought that a tattoo cake would be appropriate. I used Sailor Jerry tattoo designs and traced them in candy coating. The tattoos turned out much better than the cake itself.
Actually this topsy-turvy went way better than my first attempt. Definitely a learning experience. These cakes are complicated and annoying, but also exhilarating. And considering this one survived a 50 mile car trip (unstacked, of course), I'm pretty happy with it. Really, NEVER using cake spray again. Evil.

This was a White Zinfandel cake with strawberry filling and 2.5 recipes of buttercream.

This was our second Ed Hardy themed cake but a different picture this time. Used a stencil with icing for the background and the picture is hand-painted on gumpaste.

Going away party cake for a tat lover going to college. It was a gothic themed party, and the mother said that even the grandpa was going to be wearing black lipstick! Wish they had sent the pictures...

This cake was covered in cream fondant and then airbrushed black around the bottom to fade into the cream. I purposefully let it be splotchy to look like ink. I painted the tattoo designs on the cake with food coloring.

After doing a tattoo style cake before I got another order for one. She fortunately wanted it slightly different with the tattoo on the top that she has on her shoulder. Her favorite colors are hot pink and black. I LOVE doing these cakes!

This is a different version of my hand sculpted marzipan baby along with 2 vintage tattoo inspired gumpaste sparrows. The blanket carrying the baby is of gumpaste and has a 2, 20 gauge floral wire acting as a shape support. This is the topper to the cake I made.

This is my moms birthday cake. It was the first buttercream decorated cake I have made. I would have done fondant but I dislocated my finger a few weeks ago and am not able to manage the fondant just yet. However I think this was perfect for her. My buttercream was a bit too soft but the flowers seemed to hold up well.

I made this as a thank you cake for a friend. I based the chocolate drawing design off of her cicada tattoo she has on her ankle. (her tattoo is prettier, don't let my drawing skills fool you, haha)

This is for a tattoo artist who just opened his first shop. I think they wanted it for his birthday / grand opening. Everything is fondant ; the gun and her skin was hand painted. She has a tattoo of an old bomb on her thigh because the tattoo shop name is "Monkee Bomb Tattoo Studio". I would have liked more detail but this is what resulted. Thanks for taking a look.

I made this cake for my o/h's birthday. It's a replica of his sugar skull tattoo. This is my first non class cake made all by myself, so any comments appreciated! Never made roses before it takes a very long time!

This cake was made to look like a tattoo that my nephew has. The double H's, stand for Double H Entertainment (Hip Hop) - he is an aspiring rapper. His rap name is Medieval. The image is a frozen buttercream transfer. the cake is red velvet with buttercream icing and cream cheese filling.

I made this by the request of my sister who is obviously into tattoos. It was a lot of fun and a lot of work. Most of the finer details had to be done with toothpick because the paintbrush was just too big. I think next time I have to paint a cake I'll just paint right on the fondant of the cake, instead of piecing it together.

This is another cake I made for my brother. His nickname is Rat. He has a tattoo of a rat wearing jeans, a tank top and a bandana with Harley wings around the rat. So I wanted to try to impress him with this cake! LOL

Birthday cake for a 12-year old girl. Didn't know what Ed Hardy fashion was when she told me what she wanted. Thank goodness for google... Think I did OK - she was very excited when she saw it! Bottom two tiers are dense chocolate cake with mousseline chocolate buttercream filling, and milk chocolate ganache under marbled pink fondant. Top "tier" is rice krispie treat, also with fondant. Decorations are : roses, flames, 3D skulls (pressed from molds) and leaves in sugarpaste, heart in pastillage, the rest decorated with colored fondant.
