I was asked to do a retirement cake, and the only thing they knew they wanted on it was "Oh the places you'll go" from the Dr. Seuss book and a hint of spring color =) So I came up with this. A leather suitcase that's seen the world =) Chocolate cake with raspberry cream filling. All edible.

The suitcase cake was covered with fondant, but all of the accessories on top were made out of gum paste. On the map portion, I drew in mountains, a few canyons and trails and then wrote "Happy Birthday" alongside of them.

One of my husband co-workers are leaving and I decided to make him a cake. cake is red velvet with whipped choccolate ganache. everything else is all fondant. Thank you to so many of cc members for their ideas.

Half Chocolate and Half Vanilla covered with Italian Buttercream. Thanks to all the great ideas from all the CC decorators. Cake was for my sons girlfriend who is headed off to Spain next week.

A suitcase for my father-in-law Michel who travel all around the world! This is a chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and custard filling covered with fondant. All the details are fondant. The stickers are all hand painted. I put some gold luster dust on the metal parts to give a real effect. The map cardboard I made is on the travel theme. Really fun to make cake!

I made this cake for a farewell party for one of our pastors and their family. All the figures and accessories represent someone in their family. The Christmas lights were working; the string was fondant/gumpaste mix, and the lights themselves were dipped in white chocolate and airbrushed to get different colored lights. The sheet of music was hand painted on gum paste. All the stickers were done in color flow.

This was for my granddaughters elementary school end of year teacher appreciation lunch. Theme was cruise and nautical. This gave me a chance to try a suitcase which I've been wanting to do. Thanks for CC for all the great suitcase and cruise ideas. The bottom cake was chocolate with fudge frosting, the ocean layer was white cake with strawberries and cream filling and the cruise ship was rice crispy treat covered in fondant. The cake and almost all the elements are fondant except the sea shells which are melting chocolate using a sea shell mold. The base is covered in brown sugar for a sand effect. This actually turned out much better than I imagined and everyone was very impressed. Thanks for looking.

Made for our HR manager that was leaving our company (Lyca Till is Good luck in Swedish). Chocolate cake with peanut butter frosting. All decorations were made with fondant. I used a real zipper to make and indent on the fondant then painted in the silver. I got the idea from someone else on this site.

My first suitcase. Lots of room for improvement on the next one but hey you gotta start somewhere, right? For a going away party for a young lady off to China. Buttercream with MMF accents. The "stickers" were drawn with food color markers onto rice paper then applied to a thin piece of MMF.

This cake number two. I enjoyed doing this cake sooooo much I dumped it on the floor just so I could re-do it. The second picture is cake number one. I like cake #2 better.

My daughter's teacher gave me free reign on a graduation cake as long as I incorporated Paddington Bear, their class mascot, in some way. To feed 100 people, this is the design I came up with. The right half of the cake is rich chocolate cake with chocolate mousse. The left half is vanilla butter cake with vanilla mousse. Iced with fluffy vanilla buttercream. PB is rice crispies and his outfit is fondant. Suitcase details and PB's tag are fondant as well, except for the handle which is made from chocolate clay. The kids really loved seeing PB on their cake and were really excited when they learned he was edible!

8"x11" Strawberry lemonade cake with fresh lemon curd filling. This cake was made for a girl who is going to europe for the first time. The stickerswere hand painted to represent the places she will visit. All othe decorations are fondant or gumpaste.
