Lemon cake with lemon buttercream filling. MM fondant covering and piped accents. My first attempt at stringwork. Next time I wil use a smaller tip but I think it turned out okay.

This is my final for a Masters Class. I had to show 7 learned techniques and even tho' it was incredibly hard it was so worth it! Just wanted to share!

This is my cake from the Florida ICED competition-- it was based on a wedding dress picture that I found (as the theme was romantic wedding dresses). The cake featured fondant/ gum paste draping on the bottom tier and string work and brooches between the bottom 2 tiers. The middle tier has string and extension work that was piped with the cake upside down. The floral separator is all gum paste- roses, hydrangea, and teal stephanotis. Board is isomalt. Thanks for looking! Cake took second runner up in the pro division.

I thought this was kinda cute. The girl this was made for wanted a frog for her cake and this was my rendition. Figures are not my strong suit, but I wish they were. Nothing fancy about this cake other than the frog. Everything is buttercream except the frog, flower, cat tails and fondant "water" TFL

My first musical instrument!! I made this for a dear friend's birthday! It's one layer vanilla cake and vanilla buttercream. I found a picture online I used for a template and cut everything out days ahead so things would have time to dry. I used fondant/gumtex mixed for the components. Although I should have used gumpaste because not everything hardened up completely. Thanks for looking!

This a white and silver wedding cake iced in buttercream and embellished with fondant bands and bows colored with edible silver leaf. Each border is decorated with string work. The flowers are made of fondant and are each accented with crystal "diamond" centers. The base board and cake topper are made with "pearl" organza, dotted with crystal "diamonds" and embellished with fondant flowers with crystal "diamond" centers.

this is the first guitar cake i've ever made and i made it in a a 4 hours for my boyfriend's surprise party because i was late. But i just brushed on blue gel food coloring in a rush with a help from my friends. you can clear up the clumps with just adding a little water on a brush and even out the gel (i just didn't have time, i did the coloring in 5 minutes) The decorating took less than an hour and a half including applying fondant and all.

My mother-in-law asked me to make a cake for a friend's birthday. This is what I came up with. The flowers are all gumpaste, the only inedible parts are the ribbon and the wires fastening the flowers all together. The cake is a red velvet with a chocolate cream cheese filling. I still need work on my ruffling and string work as it is all still pretty new to me.

The lid is a shoebox lid covered in fondant, the tissue paper is gumpaste, the bra and undies are gumpaste/fondant.

I used one of my grandmother's antique plates to make the impression in the center. The rest is mmf and royal icing string work (just practicing! didn't have a #0 tip).

Hannah Montana Guitar Cake carved from a 9 x 13 sheet cake. All the white details are fondant. The "Hannah Montana" label on the guitar is just paper. If I would have had more time, I would have made it edible. The "strings" are just floss. I tried painting spaghetti with pearl dust, but was obviously unsuccessful. This cake was so fun!!

I decided to do some old school piping, which I love!, on this. I used a design from a 1974 Wilton book. It's killing me that the word "Happy" is crooked. I wish I could have a do over. Scratch white cake with BC.

Groom's cake: Neck is fondant with a wooden dowel imbedded in it so it would not sag. Other than that, it is totally eatable. The components are all fondant and the strings are two sizes of pasta. This was my first attempt at airbrushing a cake. (Did a couple practice pieces before I tackled the actual cake).

Royal Icing swirls and drop flowers with BC piping lattice work and drop strings. BC icing over a vanilla cake torted with caramel filling and BC icing. Birthday recipient is a very sweet neighbor that turned 80! so it was definetely a magical event!!
