Fondant ribbon roses on buttercream with silver leaves and silver ribbon. First time doing an anniversary cake and making the ribbon roses. And since I didn't have a lot of time to plan this one, I had to make it up as I went. It turned out okay but it's not one of my favorite ones I've done. And I forgot to put the & between the P and J before I took the picture, but I fixed it before it left my hands.

I really like how this cake came out. The only direction the client gave me with this was that the wedding had silver accents, and they were getting married on valentines day, hence the hearts.

This wedding's colours were a dark dusty rose and silvery grey. They loved the look of rounded corners, but didn't want fondant. I rounded the corners of this IMBC buttercream cake by simply icing it as usual, then slicing off the rim in 3 turns of the cake on the turntable. I let them chill an hour in the fridge, then took them out an spun them on the turntable as I held a piece of waxed paper over the rims to smooth them out as best I could.

Gumpaste bow topper and grey fondant strips on all tiers.

I made this cake for my friend's daughter's 18th birthday. The debutante wanted "stars'' and the colors teal and silver as the theme for her party. I included a caricature of a girl that the debutante herself used in her painting exhibits. The stars are painted silver and I used teal dragees all over the cake. I also made 18 pieces of small star-shaped cakes for her to blow the 18 candles.

This was one of those 'surprise ending' cakes. Requested it to serve 55, wanted metallic silver and mardi-gras purple, with guest of honor's nickname on cake... still haven't figured that one out! I practically used up a whole jar of luster dust on that star layer! Oooo - just realized how loose my foil was. How tacky! LOL

This was my first tiered cake. I could not seem to get the icing completely smooth on top. It is all buttercream icing with a little touch of silver shimmer dust.

11 inch round cake with a large serving cut out and placed on top of cake. Silver decorations are edible and purchased from a Greek grocery store. Greek lady educated me that these silver decorations are used on desserts at Greek funerals. Many other awesome shapes of these silver dragees. Swirly pink trim pattern applied with discontinued Wilton scrolls, then traced pattern with pink royal icing then painted scrolls with pearl luster dust mixed with lemon extract. Gumpaste decorations(flowers, ribbons

This is my first attempt at a castle cake. It took a while to really come up with good ideas... I bypassed paper towel rolls and pringles cans, and ended up with PVC pipes for the towers. All decorations are BC except the silver dragees and rhinestones. Hard to tell in the picture, but the entire thing is liberally dusted with cake sparkles. It looked a lot better in person, it seems the photos never do the cake justice!

Had some issues getting the fondant smooth on this square, and had to add last minute bead borders to tidy up my corners. My squares definately need ALOT of fondant practice.

12", 8" and 6" square cake, iced in buttercream. Decorated w/ fondant pearls and gum paste shells (they're kind of hard to see), dusted w/ silver luster dust. Kind of art deco looking!

Did this one today at work...only second time I have made fondant roses. I think they look ok as far as "sugar roses" but compared to the realistic ones many of you know how to do, I have a long way to go!!!!!

A 25th wedding anniversary for a woman I barely know who had no idea what design she wanted. It's a very close copy of helipop's beautiful 25th anniversary cake. Smoothed buttercream with fondant roses and leaves, silk ribbon, and tiny MMF silver pearl accents.

Our wedding cake never showed up at our wedding - the bakery had written the date wrong. So I was bound and determined to make our own official wedding cake, 25 years later! All MMF.

Got the idea for this cake from Collette peters Birthday Cakes book. Her favorite colors are red, black and silver as you can see. The letters are made from royal icing and outlined in red and black piping gel (which I wouldn't recommend doing by the way). But she LOVED it and that made it all worth it!

All hand rolled pearls froma tip #3, and silver lustre dust on pastillage. Sorry the picture is so dark. I tried to lighten it, but now it has a wierd color to it! You get the idea, though

Though I really didn't like this cake at all, it was designed by the bride and she really liked it. It was my first attempt at a large tiered cake and I had no idea what a challenge it would be. Note the sloping corners on the second layer, I had no idea where to put the dowels to support it. Whoops.

Here is a picture of the cake that about had me committed to the loony bin. The bottom two tiers are styrofoam and the top tier is lemon. It is decorated with silver dragees that are attached to BC dots.

I wanted this to be more realistic but I cut it larger so it would serve more (it was also a last minute--my husband told me yesterday afternoon he needed it my this morning). Next time I will make a smaller fish placed on a sheet cake. It was fun making it. I got my inspiration from cakes on this site. I glad everyone loves to share. I did not "paint" the luster dust on, it is just the powder brushed on. My husband bought a lure with fishing line attached to stick in the mouth.

Done for a very small wedding. Their colours were black & white, so I did it in an Art Deco theme for them, using simple flowers done in silver lustre dust & black fondant as the detailing.

French Vanilla Cake with BC icing and MMF accents. I made this cake for a friend that works with my husband who just broke up with his girlfriend, kind of a cheer-up cake. He drives a blue truck with chrome accessories.
