This is a styrofoam cake iced in BC with silver dragees on the border; real black ribbon cascading down the front, like a carpet for the couple to walk on. The topper is between the pillars instead of on the top tier. I wanted a sample cake on display to show a "black/silver" color theme.

Cake designed after a rodeo belt buckle, for a girl turning 16. She's a barrel racer, so we incorporated that into the design. All done in buttercream, except some of the details in fondant (painted w/ gold), airbrushed buckle in silver.

I covered this cake with black Satin Ice fondant. The chain and charm was made with white fondant and silver dragees, then painted with nu silver luster dust and silver gliiter platinum dust. This was my first time using Satin Ice fondant and I was very pleased with it. It was a little more forgiving than MMF.

This was the bride's design. It's definitely different from the other cakes I have done. My issue with the design, since it is so exact, is you can't move decorations around to hide mistakes, ha!

This cake matches the bridesmaid's dresses that we will be wearing. I lucked out - I made the Buttercream Dream recipe from the files and didn't realize that it has a shimmer to it. When I colored the icing gray, it ended up looking silvery which matched the color I was going for perfectly. The topper is chocolate clay with chocolate piping. The cake is the Whimsical Bakehouse's "Freckled Mocha" cake with Bailey's Irish Cream flavored buttercream

I borrowed this idea from Freeman's cakes in Vegas (I think that's the name). They were all lemon buttermilk.(was told the cake was super yummy and moist) This was my first time making a cake that had ribbon decorations...actually took much longer to assemble!! Also, the cake looked much better in person with the hall lighting and all...the flash took all that away...poo! PLEASE PM ME IF YOU WOULD LIKE RECIPE...HAPPY TO SHARE IT.

My daughter's wedding cake. Her colors were black and silver with red roses in the bouquets. The cake has white roses with silver foil leaves, and a few red rosebuds for accent colors. All buttercream. I will never be the mother of the bride AND the caterer again!

Fondant with gumpaste flowers. I've done this one about 7 times, some with really bright combos like purple fondant and pink flowers. One version of it even made it into Wedding Cakes: A Design Source.

This was my first stacked cake with buttercream. It's had it's faults, but worked. I loved working with the luster dust/highlighter dust. This was fun overall. LOL, only had one meltdown!

This cake gave me nightmares because of the silver dragees, hehe, I actually knocked off a few in trasport. Good thing it wasn't for a paying customer. I completely covered the top tier of white fondant with silver luster dust to get the metallic finish.

This cake WAS beautiful before transporting it. It rained that day and the humidity caused the icing to slide right off the edges. Thank God for greenery and flowers! The reception site was also warmer than desired which didn't help matters. The bride loved it though and that made me feel much better about it.

just made this last weekend. I had to take it in my car for a 5 hour dirve to my sister inlaw's house. I tried to put it in a smaller box...YEAH!!! STUPID mistake...but I was in a hurry so I squeezed the cake...you can tell by looking at the bulges..that it was badly abused!!! but everyone loved it and the 5 hour drive didn't move a single bead :).

This was for my sisters wedding, which was small. She wanted something modern and feminine, so this is what I came up with. You can't really see, but the squares are covered with shimmer dust. It is my first real cake, and after several tries with fondant, I finally found a recipe that worked well - Thanks Toba Garrett! Thanks as well to the several people form CC who gave such good advice! While you'll have to excuse the many mistakes, I'm always open to suggestions! Thanks for looking!

This is a mini stacked cake for a womens' tea centerpiece -6"x6" /4"x6" copied (hate to use that word- hers is MUCH better than mine!) from the Whimsical Alexandra by Melysa in CC's gallery. Decorations are fondant. The actual cake came out nice, but fondant I covered it w/had bright white gel color in it which ruined it - it was sliding off the cake & ripping! No time to re-do it because I would have had to make a new batch of fondant, so I had to patch it -was very upset. I love the design, though!

Fondant with silver scintillo dots, real ribbon, gumpaste flowers, and a chocolate topper. The sun was really bright behind me so I was fighting shadows, this is the best pic I was able to get.

This is my mom's mother's day cake. My first cake entirely done with luster dust. It was a learning experience, but it turned out okay. She loved it. It is banana nut spice cake with chocolate ganach filling & cream cheese icing covered in MMF.

The Grad Scroll cake is a 9 x 13 sheet caramel-vanilla iced in buttercream then airbrushed royal blue. The scroll was made from fondant, airbrushed silver and the edges & writing was done using Silver Moon dust applied with a small paint brush then. The scrollwork was done using a #16 star tip and the shell border with a #32 star tip.

I made this cake for my brother and his wife, who just graduated from
Texas A&M. You may not be able to tell, but the swirlies have little
graduation caps on the ends of them.

This was for an engagement party, the colors were white, silver, gold and black. I was a little unsure with those colors. I was pretty pleased with the exception of the one bad scroll that I accidentally put in the front, UGH!!
