I just finished my first cake for an event. I've only made one other cake outside of class and it was just for practice. I definitely feel very "new" at this because it took me forever to finish and it's such a simple cake. I used the party napkin (pictured behind) for the theme of the cake. I can't wait until some of these techniques become second nature. Cake iced completely in buttercream.

I decorated this in my cake class this week. It is devil's food with buttercream icing. The baby booties are made from marshmallows decorated with a #16 star tip, and the stork was done out of piping gel.

As a PChef Consultant, we do many events and have a wedding registry I was asked to make this cake for a Bridal Show happening this weekend... I just used what I had around the house except for the lacy got that from mom... But the cake and all was just a throw together since no one will be eating it...

Thanks to Tally for this picture, I needed to do a cake just like hers for a baby shower and the baby's name was Noah. I couldn't find any suitable coloring pages and Tally was wonderful enough to send me the link. This is a cherry chip cake , buttercream icing and FBCT.

Sorry, this is in B/W. In all the craziness of the day, I lost my color fim roll. The handle and spout are made from a cookie. The bootom of the teapot is blue and the top is white. The decorations are done in piped blue and white with pearl dust painted on with a paintbrush.

I lost my color film roll and my friend gave me this picture. She only uses B/W fim. I mad this table to go along with the teapot. It has a rolled fondant tablecloth in a pal blue. I made the teacups out of cupcakes and the handles were wire covered in floral tape. They had a layer of pudding on the top to look like coffee. I took the invitation, deleted the info, miniaturized it and placed it on the table.

Full sheet, whipped cream topping, (Very hard to decorate with!) My daughter wanted something "Mystic" for her baby shower cake. I found the saying "The two things you should give your child are roots and wings" and loved it, so I incorperated it into the cake. ie: Tree=Roots and Fairy=Wings.

These are three cakes that I kind of threw together on Monday night so I would have something to bring to work on Valentines Day. The far pink one I had a little trouble with - I beat the icing on too high a speed - it was a new recipe and I learned quickly that slow is the key!

The babies room had a sports theme, so they wanted the squares to reflect that. She asked me to add the pom-poms just in case it was a girl. All buttercream.

This was my first clothesline cake. My free-hand laundry basket turned out a bit big and had to take it off of the top of the cake and place it off to the side which smudged the decoration on the left. But I think it turned out pretty well considering it was 2am when I finished.

My take on Lindy's Baby Boy Shower Cake. I love the colours. Unfortunately, my fondant bear was too heavy for the top block and caved that corner in a bit. Oh well, learned my lesson for next time.
