This is actually a baptism cake....my first...my first roses. I tried using the glitter dust...but the lighting in the kitchen shows the places where the brush touched. My friend was happy with it...but i don't think that she'd say anything bad.

Would love some honest critiquing from you guys! Thanks for looking!

6x3, 8x3 and 10x3 covered with light blue fondant. The shells were made with gumpaste but can be made with fondant. I used several different luster dusts to color the shells. Pearls were made with fondant and dusted with pearl dust. Coral I made years ago with a heated sugar mixture and royal icing. I think it is called rock sugar. I used raw sugar for my sand. I used the new Wilton Cakes and More Cake Stand.

This was a last minute (2 day notice) cake and as we all know little mermaid isnt too popular anymore so I couldnt find any toys or cake toppers anywhere. My brother found these in Houston they went to a leggo set and drove them to me in Lake Charles. It was a life saver! I think it came out pretty good for such short notice! All the shells are chocolate.

Birthday cake for another potluck at work. Not at all the design I had in mind. Wanted to do basketweave and roses, but ran out of time and whipped icing wasn't cooperating lol. I'm sure they'll still like it. *crossing fingers*

Cinderella FBCT. Didn't turn out so great.... the black kinda smudged in places and her mouth ended up looking weird but I didn't want to outline it b/c I thought that would look worse.... the roses are made w/ Hershey kisses as the base. All in all I think the little girls I made it for will love it- it was a practice cake anyway....

These are all dummy cakes, except for the top tier. The main cake is 6", 10", 14" and the satellite cakes are 6", 8" and 10". The hurricane lamps are filled with sand, shells, and water - the goldfish were left at home due to high heat! The wedding had a beach theme...very fitting, as we live just about on Lake Michigan! I added white chocolate shells to the smallest cake, and also placed some with the flower arrangements to tie all the cakes together. There were also 24 centerpiece cakes.

Did this cake this weekend for mother's 60th BD. Cake is chocolate with Peanut Butter icing. Shells are fondant and chocolate, stones are jelly beans. Also used dragees, pearls, green buttercream for seaweed, crushed Nilla Wafers for sand. My mom was specific about cake and icing and wanted a bear on the cake, so I made one from fondant and hid it among the shells for her to find.

My daughter loves Ariel, so we chose a Disney Ariel doll with the Wonder Mold pan on a 11x15 sheet cake. We have her fin down the back of the rock that is near the shore. Graham cracker crumbs for sand, and buttercream shells other sea items.

This is my first wedding cake. Sea shells are made of marbled white/dark chocolate using a variety of candy molds. Coral is also chocolate. To make the coral, I placed waxed paper over a template and piped the melted chocolate over the template. 14/10/6 inch rounds. Buttercream frosting. Groom preferred vanilla and bride preferred chocolate (of course), so each tier is half chocolate cake and half vanilla cake with a sinful chocolate fudge filling.

The cake is chocolate w/buttercream (w/almond twist) icing. The banner is fondant decorated with edible markers. The shells are marbled chocolate. The dolphin is not edible. I found it at Michaels and thought it would be cute jumping out of the "ocean" of icing. The candles represent tiki torches and are rainbow just like the rainbows you see in Hawaii.

Chocolate cake with Barbie doll stuck in the mini doll pan. Used real sea shells. I tried to make the ocean wave look at the bottom and then I copied the hibiscus from the napkins. This cake was lots of fun!!!

This cake was made for my Sister-in-Law's wedding 5th of Aug. MMF with two layers chocolate/chocolate fill and two layers pound/strawberry fill. It was my first attempt at a topsy-turvy cake so I didn't go too crazy. The couple thought it looked like waves and loved it. I had LOTS of compliments at the wedding too. It was a little embarassing. I had lots of fun doing it, but I think I took on a bit too much for my first wedding cake...I was SO stressed out. Thanks for looking! Hope you like it!

The tier sizes are 14, 10 & 6. This was set up on a boat that would cruise a local lake for a few hours. I hope it stayed together!
The bride provided the fishbowls and everything in them (aquarium stuff like seashells, plastic plants & a fish (NO, I would NOT let her use real fish! as she wanted to) Shells are molded candy melts.

Used real shells on this one, soaked in very mild bleach solution for 24 hours and dried for one week.

Tinted the outer buttercream with about 2 tablespoons of dark dark cocoa to get a great "wet sand" colour.

This is a small (6") cake I made for a friend's bachelorette party. Her wedding theme is starfish and her invitations featured a terracotta cardstock with gold starfish. The cake is devil's food, torted in four layers and filled with white and chocolate BC. Iced in copper BC, with white BC "waves." Topper is demerarra (sp?) sugar, and the shells are made of white chocolate and peanut butter. I painted pearl luster dust on the shells to brighten them up. Thanks for looking :)
