I wanted to try one of these after seeing some really cute cakes here on C.C. This was done really quick on one of those days to just use what you have on hand. I had fun doing this. I hope to be able to do a bigger one someday. Thanks for looking!!!!

Cooler is a 9x13 cut in half & then another 1/2 iced in BC. Bottles are poured sugar from the tutorial from CC. Sand is crushed pecan sandies. Shells are candy melts. There were 5 birthdays (one is mine!). Each one of us got a personalized label with our birth year on it. Mine was "Cindy's Light Lager Since 1968" I glued the label to gold fancy foil then wrapped that around the bottle. Bottle caps were tin foil. Ice was a problem so I scrapped it. Whole cake was a total hit.

I made this for my nephew's luau themed 1st birthday. It was chocolate cake and buttercream with vanilla wafer cookie crumbs to look like sand. He even ate his smash cake (in the sand bucket) with the shovel!

This was a deserted island with an erupting volcano, massive waves, a shark in the water and two empty beach blankets...see? There are WORSE things than turning 30! I love how the water turned out on this cake. I frosted with just white BC and covered it with water-colored gel and pulled waves out with a toothpick. The white showed thru which gave the water a realistic feel and a lot of movement,

This is my variation of sugarfancy's beautiful cake - thanks for the inspiration! Sand is a mixture of graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar. Water has piping gel on top for that "wet" look. Tiki guy is MMF, I used my kids' Doh doh island Play Doh mold for it! Tiki hut is a mini cupcake. Other details are MMF, RI and BC. I'll post a close-up of the top too. Thanks for looking!

The sand is crushed cookies, the flowers are royal. Other than that, it's just a drawing on a sheetcake.

This is one of two tiki cakes I did last weekend for my friend's birthday. She put the plastic palm trees and the 30 candle on it. It was all edible. Thanks to Susan Carberry for the inspiration! You're the best!

I did this cake for a friends little girl's Birthday. I used a few pieces from the Wilton castle set. I had my hubby drill holes in the bottom of the towers and inserted the wooden dowel rods. Covered the towers in butter cream and the rolled in gram cracker crumbs. The sea shells are made from Chocolate in the candy molds.

A square cake decorated to resemble a beach. The hut is also cake. I used vanille wafers for the sand effect and fondant for the sea/ocean. I added some non-edible accents and it turned out awesome! The girl it was for was turning 40 and this was the theme.

I made these for my son's first birthday, and we celebrated with a beach party! Both of these cakes were inspired by cakes I have seen on these websites. Thanks to all of you artists who inspire us all!! The beach ball is buttercream, and the sand pails are covered in fondant. The sand is graham cracker crumbs, the shells are made of sugar, and the shovel is gumpaste.

Sorry the picture was so blurry... my camera... Im ready to chunk it in the river!! This is the only pix I had... but it was so cute I couldnt resist. Maybe someone else could expand the concept. The flip flops are fondant and the trees are pretzels with fondant using a 352 tip (I think--leaf tip).

I did this cake for a dear friend of mine. Its a yellow cake with BC icing, per his request. Loved working with the seagulls on the wires. The tree and the beach towels are fondant. I tinted some piping gel teal and made some waves!! The sand is brown sugar. The martini glasses and shaker and the shells are all miniature buttons believe it or not. I will post a few different view.

This cake was for an informal wedding at a home, with a luau theme. I'm pretty sure the cake was the most formal thing there. LOL All of the shells are white chocolate, and the sand is crushed animal crackers. Everything else is BC.

i remember when we went to the beach for the first time when we were stationed in florida, i couldn't believe how white the sand was...and how sticky it was too!
i've seen a lot of beach-themed cakes done w/ brown sugar of different colors, but i've never seen any with white sand. so...i thought of doing one that reminded me of the beaches in the panhandle of florida!
fondant covered dummy, white chocolate accents painted w/ luster dust, and white sugar for the sand.
