This cake was for a little girl's Under the Sea birthday party - white cake w/bavarian creme filling, cream cheese icing, fondant luster dusted bubbles & brown sugar as sand. She added the Ariel doll at the party - it was supposed to look like she was floating on the bubbles.

I made this cake for my son's 5th birthday. It was really fun! White choc. cakes with strawberry filling. They are a half sheet, 10 in square, and 8 in round carved to look like a desert mountainside and covered in crushed nilla wafers and graham crackers. The cactus and signs are made of royal icing and the signs are handpainted with food color. The rocks and road are fondant and the rock formations were rice krispie treats covered in fondant and sponge painted.

This cake was done for a co-workers daughter who was turning 40. She grew up in Hawaii and her favorite flowers are plumeria (frangipani) white with the yellow centers. So i made a real lei out of fondant plumeria which i made by hand, one by one, about 55 of them. All the bamboo were made of MMF as well as the leaf. the sign was wilton fondant that I hand painted with diluted gel colors. The sand was a combination of graham cracker, brown sugar, and sugar in the raw.

The high school where I teach, have a hawaiian night every year to give the Seniors their "Senior Stuff", and I was asked to do the cake...I think in years past a sheet cake was all that was purchased...the students and staff members loved it...so did I...enjoy and thanks for looking.

This cake was so much fun to make! It was inspired by Jasra's beach-themed cake (thanks Jasra!). It was made for a bride who is going somewhere tropical for her wedding and honeymoon. Bride, groom and other details are MMF. Sand is a mixture of graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar.

This was for a gal getting married in Maui - It's made up of a total of 3 cakes. One 10x15 sheet, one 10x10 square and the wonder cake pan. Everything is done in buttercream frosting and piping gel. I also got to use my airbrush for the very first time to create shadows and depth on the land. The picture is dark so I don't know how well people can see that. (Otherwise it just kinda looked like a brown lump!) The sand is pulvarized graham crackers and granulated sugar to give it a little sparkle!

White cake with fudge chocolate frosting. The straps and lock are fondant. I didn't know about this site until after I made this cake or I would have used some of the clever ideas I had seen here. So many talented artists display their cakes here.

Fluffy white buttercream clouds, and graham cracker sand. Candy melt shells. Gumpaste bridge. Had issues putting the top tier on, I drove one of the pillars through the front of the cake!!

The bottom layer was a 9inch 3inch deep round topped with a 8inch round. The top is a cylinder of cake from a soup can and 6 ice cream cones. Cake was carrot/spice/vanilla pudding covered in cream cheese icing (canned) warmed and finished with vanilla wafers/animal crackers/teddy grahams/cake leftovers ground in the food processor for the sand. I purchased the edible shells at a local cake shop. The flip flops are candles purchased from Hobby Lobby.

This is my version of a sand castle cake. It was a suprise for my friend who was having a hard time turning 30, it was a hit! It's devil's food cake with chocolate fudge frosting (her favorites) and I smothered it in crushed graham crackers. This is a picture of the cake before I put the toothpick flags and the candles on it. Unfortunately, it was so last minute, I couldn't find any of those lovely little candies or chocolates that look like shells or starfish.....good excuse to make another one! ;-D

I wanted to make a sand pail using the "Baby in a Flower Pot" instructions found on CC. The pail is 7 layers of yellow cake w/chocolate hazelnut BC filling. Covered in fondant. It's resting on a devil's food sheet cake covered in BC and "sand" is crushed graham crackers. Shells are molded chocolate. Shovel is plastic since my gumpaste one didn't turn out right. But hey, it's my fifth cake! There are definitely imperfections but I'm still proud of it.

Made for a friends' daughters 8th birthday who wanted a beach theme... First time tackling RK treats - what messy stuff that is! - but made a pretty cool wave out of it. Swiss white chocolate cake with BC icing & "granita" sand (cuz we don't have graham crackers over here!)

My sister told me she wanted a beach themed cake with maybe a beach ball for her two daughter's birthday party. So YAY I got to take artistic license. I saw a beach cake on here where a lady make RI transfers of her grandkids and that inspired me to my MMF figures of my nieces. The crab, the beach ball, the beach blanket, and the sandals are all MMF too. The sand is cookies, the fence is RI and the shells are candy melt. She wanted it to look like Myrtle Beach, SC also I had so much fun with this cake!

This is a yellow pudding cake with a buttercream frosting. The water is blue gel icing. The sand is grahm cracker crumbs. The palm trees are royal icing. The hut is made from a plastic cup (for shape), pretzels, and royal icing to hold it together. I made this cake for a second grade teacher at the school I work in. His class did a couple lessons on expository writing on how to make and decorate a cake! This was such a fun cake to make!

I made this to look like a volleyball in a sand pit. I used graham cracker crumbs and brown sugar for the sand. I filled the volleyball with twinkie filling and used white fondant for the ball and the lettering.

I made this cake for a few girls at work for their birthdays. The flip flops are made of Rice Krispie squares. A nod to Vicki614 for her design, which I basically copied. I added some seashell chocolates after, but didn't have my camera with me for that.
