This was a last minute cake for a good friend's dad who builds and races his own sailboats in the Bahamas. I needed to practice with piping gel for an upcoming cake so this was a good opportunity. Enjoy.

12x18 sheetcake, I made this for my son's pre-k graduation. The theme was sailing into kindergarten. They sang sailing songs and were so cute!! Edible image with fondant accents, I tried to make a 3d sailboat but failed miserably, so this is what I ended up with... TFL!

Thanks to Endymion for directing me to the sailboat candy mold!
This one made me nervous -- the client "art directed" me to specification more than anyone has before (usually I just get a theme and do whatever I want), and she didn't want me to use fondant for decorations unless I absolutely had to. I managed to only do gumpaste ducks and that was it! Boat is made from chocolate and the rest is all buttercream. She was very happy with it! (Also, Ruff is their last name so that was a joke for the boat.)

This is a sailboat cake I made for a friend's son's first birthday. It didn't turn out how I had imagined, but I did my best! Sails were originally out of gumpaste, but I broke them before I had a chance to attach them to the dowel. The plaque is made of gumpaste.

Special thanks to mamacc's original design. My customer saw her picture and fell in love with it. I took my own take on the boat. I made it to match the birthday boy's boat. The boat is carved out of RKT and covered with a double layer of MMF. The sails are gumpaste.

A blatant and shameless rip-off of melysa's fondant cupcakes, made into cookies (and not nearly as cute as hers). Sorry the picture is of such poor quality...I over-exposed it, so the details did not come thru. The cookies were a big hit at the end-of-year dinner for my son's sailing club, though. I used Toba's glace.

I was asked to make birth announcement cookie favors for a baby shower to match the nautical theme of the paper products. (The twins arrived early, so the shower was held after mom recovered.) Butter cookies with mmf and RI details. Thanks for looking.

6" French Vanilla filled and iced in all b/c. Little girl loved boats. I wanted to get the rough seas effect. I was fortunate to have some ribbon that happened to match the colors of the gumpaste sailboats. Turned out pretty good. Client was pleased. As always, TFL.

8" and 6" almond pound cake. Hostess of shower requested the baby's name be spelled out in nautical flags. This was new to me. I never knew that there was a flag for every letter of the alphabet. Fondant covered w/fondant and gumpaste accents. TFL

My daughter loves everything beach themed, so I made 3 cakes for her birthday that were beach themed. A sand castle, a lighthouse and a sailboat.

I made this cake for my cousin to take to a baby shower. Unfortunately the mom to be couldn't be there because her baby came eight weeks early the day before the shower! There is a mural of a lighthouse/beach in the nursery. I had a hard time creating this one! It says, AHOY! IT"S A BOY! WELCOME BABY KINCH .. 12x18 marble cake iced in buttercream dream, fondant boats, lighthouse, rocks, life rings, rocks and anchor w/rope
