This was my first attempt at MMF roses. I bought the Wilton rose kit and it was super easy. I could not for the life of me make royal icing roses, so this was a great alternative for me!

My husband has just completed an 8 week (16hrs only) beginners course in cake decorating. This is the cake he made and finished during the course. The types of flowers made were the same by all the students... no choice but the design and presentation was up to each individual... not bad for his first go I think

This is my first attempt at a buttercream wedding cake. (I usually like to work with fondant) I used an impression mat to make the lace on the buttercream. I found the spray roses at Sam's Club for 12.00. This is a little practice one, but I think the roses make the cake.

I was so frustrated with this cake. The icing in-between the layers of the top tier kind of oozed out of one side. So I had to smooth it out upon delivery. My icing would not get smooth. I used the VIVA paper towel and that would not help. The bride wanted off white with light pink roses. My MMF pearls were darker than the icing. URHHHH! I am just glad that is over. Overall, I guess it was okay for my first wedding cake.

This cake was a true labour of love. It was for my eldest daughter's first birthday and I wanted to capture all the whimsy and fancifulness of childhood. It was decorated with rose and purple fondant. The bottom layer was chocolate with caramel filling and the top was white cake with toffee cream filling.

We used 14 dozen roses and it only covered the sides and front. 2 things of baby's breathe. So if you were making this cake and you wanna get an idea how many roses to buy... I would get atleast 25 to 38 dozen roses and 3 to 4 baby's breathe if you want baby's breathe.

My first attempt at a book cake. I was pleased with the results and so was my friend! The cake itself was CMD's White Almond Sour Cream, iced with Almond Buttercream. Delicious! :)

After my latest class I was feeling lousy about my lack of being able to make a rose. So I made this cake with my left over icing to practice. I feel a bit better now.....but still have a ways to go.

I was pulling my hair out with the Royal Icing.. but I finally calmed down, and Look.. they came out good. Cake is just classic yellow, buttercream beasket weave.

This I made for a young girl on her puberty seremony. (hindu tradition) I got some ideas from Stephen Benison's book. All made out of pastillage, flowerpaste and fondant. It was a hit for them.

This is a vanilla cake I made for a girl from my sister's work. It's kind of a combination of a cake in a wilton book, and a rose top cake I saw on another decorator's website.

I did this cake for practice for a wedding coming up in a couple of weeks. It was my first time with fondant. I used fake flowers for this one, but the real cake will be real roses. Any suggestions on how to make real roses stick to the cake?

This is one of 2 wedding cakes I made a couple of weekends before the hurricane hit us. This was a very last minute wedding cake order (1 week prior to the wedding). Her colors were light pink, light blue and white. For the cake, I used the super enhanced cake recipe from here.

A 6" heart devil's food cake covered in buttercream. First time making roses of two hues. Had fun with the basketweave -- thanks, ntertayneme, for your great idea. Made for an elderly widow who I am Secret Sister to in our church. She was thrilled to find it waiting for her this morning and wondered aloud to me (of all people) who her Secret Sister could be! (hee hee)
