Cake I did this weekend for baby shower. I tried the fondant/rolled butter cream combo. For me it was a little more difficult than fondant to work with but the taste payoff makes it worthwhile...much nicer taste and consistency. Cake is carrot cake with cream cheese icing covered with the fondant/rolled BC (that was orange flavored).

These were an experiment in many ways! Penny's Pastries Butter Cookie recipe, rolled buttercream, and melted bittersweet chocolate. RBC was great to work with but I don't love the taste of Wilton's butter flavor. The flavor of the cookies is good (2 T vanilla!) but I plan to reduce the baking powder to 1 tsp as in my usual recipe--these spread and puffed too much.

These were an experiment in many ways! Penny's Pastries Butter Cookie recipe, rolled buttercream, Toba's Meringue Royal. RBC was great to work with but I don't love the taste of Wilton's butter flavor. The flavor of the cookies is good (2 T vanilla!) but I plan to reduce the baking powder to 1 tsp as in my usual recipe--these spread and puffed too much, especially the dragonflies.

This is my very first cake with rolled fondant! I was very proud of myself, because I always imagined that rolled fondant was hard to do but.... not at all!! I loooovvveeee the result. This cake was made for my friend's birthday. She was so happy. I usually make cakes about once or twice a year (for my husband's birthday and for Valentine's Day) but now I know I will be making cakes at least once a month lol!!

choclate rolled cookies with choclate fondant. Theses cookies tasted really good. The fondant made the cookie nice and soft so it was like a brownie!

This was my first attempt at using my book pan (finally had a chance) and a first for rolled buttercream. This was for the young author's conference at my son's elem. school. Yellow cake with buttercream filling laced with creme bouquet. The gold edges and words were painted on with food color. The "yellowed" edges were done with ivory color rubbed onto my finger and rubbed onto the buttercream.

This is a choc cake, covered in a layer of buttercream and then a layer of rolled butter cream, the flowers are royal icing and the piping is just regular buttercream. I made it for my mom for mother's day but didn't write anything cause my writing isn't so good.

first attempt at stacked cake. rolled buttercream. Made this for niece's sweet 16th. Threw the fourth layer together at last minute... thought it needed to be taller. Made 3 individual birthday cakes to go with this for my niece & 2 of her friends who also shared the party. i spent so much time on the cake, i should have thought about the transition between cakes more... lesson learned!

First time using my air brush - I need lots of practice!!! These were made for y son's soccer team for tomorrow's game. Rolled buttercream was too soft, so I had a hard time using my edible marker to trace the stencil part and make clean lines. Thanks for looking!!

This is a yellow cake with strawberry filling, covered with Pastry Pride, buttercream writing and RI flowers. The base of the cap is cake covered with rolled fondant. The top board of the cap is cardboard covered with rolled fondant. I used a PlayDoh "machine" to push the fondant to make the cord and tassel. Thanks go to the many members for their grad cap ideas. You are all an inspiration!
