This is actually a half-completed wedding cake. But I liked it so much as it was, that I decided to photograph it before I added the lace applique pieces (in sugar, of course!) and the white sugar rose dome topper. I'm just putting the very final touches to the cake and then I will photograph it in the morning before delivery. It's amazing how very different the 'two' cakes look!

50th Wedding Anniversary My first anniversary cake and first square cake, too! Choc mud and vanilla frosting. I used artificial flowers because I only had a week's notice - cheating, I know!

A completely gold (faux) cake that I made for a bridal show. It's wrapped with lace and ivory ribbon and covered with handmade pearly hydrangeas and blossoms. The top is a handmade little bunch of sugar snowberries, hydrangeas, buds and a few leaves.

I'm not sure what this technique is called, but I've been calling it chocolate lace. I saw it once and recreated it. Pretty easy, you just have to time it just right. But, it's the chocolate drizzle swirls, wrapped around each tier. You just drizzle and allow to semi-set. Corresponding colored ribbon on each tier. Lavender colored rose bud on top with rose petals all down and around. It turned out really lovely.

High school graduation cake for my step-daughter. This cake was a disaster. It was supposed to be covered completely in all white fondant so that guests could sign and draw all over, but I had huge issues with the fondant that day (not helped by the requested red frosting underneath it--school colors red and white). I ended up just doing a fondant circle on top and using the extra frosting on the sides. I ran out of frosting and the back was naked!!! Lesson learned---plan ahead.

I love that the bride and groom were willing to take a chance and use colour for their wedding cake. It was three tiers of dark chocolate mud cake covered in black fondant. The damask pattern was applied using a stencil using red royal icing. The roses were made from fondant. It was awesome to be able to do something that little bit different.
