Did this one today at work...only second time I have made fondant roses. I think they look ok as far as "sugar roses" but compared to the realistic ones many of you know how to do, I have a long way to go!!!!!

Customer found this cake somewhere on line and wanted me to duplicate. I think in the original the decorator used an elmo cake topper, in this one I used fondant and icing to construct elmo

This cake was made for the OSSAS show when the theme was a wedding cake fit for a queen. I came in 5th.

The symbols on the fan (to the left of the cake) mean "True Love" and I think the symbol on the cakes means "Eternity".

I think I used about 5 containers of gold and a couple of bottles of Everclear to paint this cake. The liquor store people gave me some odd looks. :)

Here's the Cars character pan on a quarter sheet cake. I got a nice deep red by tinting my icing red, then airbrushing red over that before I did any of the other colors on the cake.

This is actually my finale cake for the course 3 class, but I thought that it could make a ver pretty wedding cake or even a birthday ( sweet sixteen or something like that.) The top cake is a 6" coconut cake, the nest one is an 8" yellow and the bottom (covered by the roses) is a 10" chocolate all are covered with buttercream and fondant. I made over 100 roses to cover the sides of the 2" high 10" That became my "boarder" for the cake. I need more practice on the string work, otherwise it's ok.

Full sheet cake with buttercream icing. The red headed woodpecker is an edible image of a drawing by Don Edwards. That is his trademark on all his paintings.

My largest wedding cake yet. Easier than I thought it would be. White cake w/raspberry filling on 1st & 3rd tiers. Fresh roses. The wall behind was burnt orange and totally clashed w/the red. My Mom took liberty and I used more of the tulle from the table and made some panels & drapes and it really softened it and made it blend better.

Thank you to georgies_girl for the inspiration for this cake! I made this for my cousin's fiancee for a surprise party her co-workers were throwing for her. Today was her last day at work before she got married and I thought this would work well. Her wedding color is red so I used that for the roses and I love tone on tone so I made the bride white and the top is sprayed with luster but you can't really tell in the photo. Chocolate fudge cake with buttercream.

This was another cake for my niece. I had no idea I could freehand until I did her Elmo cake the year before. This was long before any decorating classes, that's why the bc isn't smooth and even.

Got the idea for this cake from Collette peters Birthday Cakes book. Her favorite colors are red, black and silver as you can see. The letters are made from royal icing and outlined in red and black piping gel (which I wouldn't recommend doing by the way). But she LOVED it and that made it all worth it!

Thank you Sugarshack for your inspiration. Chocolate layered 3" and 6" tiered cake with Buttercream Dream frosting (yummy), 50/50 gumpaste/Satin Ice fondant bows and monogram "B" and straight Satin Ice fondant ribbons with little baby flowers. Your critique is highly appreciated! All comments welcomed.

Red velvet cake with cream cheese icing. I made the flower arrangement myself with silk flowers... next time I'm just icing the flowers on the cake, this was too much trouble, but I was having difficulty making flowers with icing that had as much coloring in it as this shade of purple needed. I'll get it eventually, but roses intimidate me.

This was my first ever baby shower cake, and first time to use edible images. I paid a local shop for the images and had NO idea they would be that big. I thought they would be the same size as the original scanned...oops! The theme of the shower was "under construction" thus the reason for the vivid colours. I took some mini oreo's and crunched them to make it resemble asphalt. The cake is a yellow butter cake, it has 2 edible images, and "traffic/construction" signs. Constructive critiquing is welcome.
