I had my final class last night in the most unbareable heat. It was even 85 degrees in the class room. We were making jokes that we had Wilting Wilton Roses. It was the first time I have done roses and I am happy with them all things considered.

Made this cake for hubby to surprise him when he got back home from being away at Training. It was my first attempt at a checkerboard cake but didn't come out as well as I had hoped, maybe next time. Next time I will use a darker cake. The cake is Caramel Cake & Yellow Cake. Red & Black Buttercream frosting, Basket weave all around the sides of the cake.

This cake is red velvet with a cream cheese frosting. The dragon is an exact copy of the birthday girls tattoo. I took the tattoo print and enlarged it (see in my album) and then cut it out. After the icing had chilled a bit I used black gel icing to fill it in and that was about it. A tedious task but it turned out great I think. And it was the hit of the Chinese themed bday party.

I made this cake for my sister and my nephew is taking it in a plane to Puerto Rico tomorrow. Hopefully it will make it through with all the alerts going on! Designed inspired by cake done by CakesUnleashed. Hope she doesn't mind!! I loved it as soon as I saw it. I had been wanting to make a red and black cake for the longest time. All fondant.

A surprise for the bride & groom....for their picnic rehearsal dinner with red & white checkered tablecloths; left the design up to me so I played off the red & white. Triple chocolate cake and marble layers with black cherry BC filling. BC with royal icing dots and hearts, fondant ribbon and hearts on wire painted with white pearl dust. Traveled 2 hours in horrible humidity, so the 'cloud' under the hearts on top fell, and then was assembled by my friend. They loved it despite minor imperfections!

My Aunt is a member, so this is for her. Brim is a 8' round, with the partial mini ball pan on top. Iced in BC, smoothed with viva.Ribbon, flowers and feather are all fondant. For the feather, I trimmed out a piece and pressed a fork into it, to get a feathery look.First time making any kind of flower, I think my fondant was to thick, but atleast you can tell what they are.

Every month we have a birthday potluck at work for everyone who has a birthday that month. August didn't have any birthdays or holidays, but everyone wanted to have a potluck anyway. I'm in charge of doing the cakes and it made me think of an UnBirthday cake. Topsy turvy came to mind. It was my first attempt and not the best, but everyone loved the uniqueness of it. I know the things I did wrong and will learn from it :-) Thanks for looking!

I made this cake for my brother's 17th birthday. I used the new stadium pan from Nordicware, and then carved the cake to make the famous "Horseshoe" shape. I used the "Durable Cake for 3D and Wedding Cakes" recipe with chocolate cake mix. I frosted it with store-bought Wilton Decorator icing that I tinted gray, dark gray, and red. The scoreboard and field were made by my sister on the computer. To give you some idea of the scale, the "crowd" was made using Wilton colored non-pareils.
