This is Lightning McQueen from the Disney movie Cars. I made this cake for my son's 2nd birthday this past weekend. He is all about Cars (the movie) right now and he LOVED this cake. His reaction to it is was priceless! It is actually a red velvet cake made in the 3d Car cruiser cake pan. It iced in buttercream with fondant accents. The wheels are mini donuts covered in fondant. This cake actually looked bettter in person. I think the flash of the camera highlights all the flaws.
Thanks for looking

This is both cakes that I did for my son's 2nd birthday. The half sheet cake is 1/2 white cake and 1/2 chocolate cake, iced in buttercream. The cars are actually the toys that he had gotten out of the Happy Meals. He loved both of his cakes, as did all the party guests. That always makes me feel good!

Thanks for looking!

My 11 year old son likes to decorate cakes and I was trying out icing recipes. It worked out good for both of us.

Yellow cake and chocolate cupcakes all done with buttercream. The car was made with the Wilton car pan. The little girl loves Dale Jr. hence the number '8'. Her mom did talk her into a pink race car to make it a little more girly.

My nephew's 4th birthday cake consisted of a yellow cake cut into a number 4 shape. I used buttercream icing to cover the cake. I then cut out white fondant squares to create the checkerboard pattern on the sides and dark grey fondant to cover the top only. I coated it lightly with silver shimmer dust to give it the true road look. A set of generic toy race cars made a great accessory and nice take home gift for my nephew's guests.

Inspiration came to me from Bjfranco(thankyou!) This has been the most time consuming cake I have done to date! It is a 10" french vanilla 6" devils food with buttercream dream icing (YUM) and MMF accented roads and traffic cones. My first time carving into cake and with mmf. Turned out pretty good IMO!

This is my first paid cake!!! Woo Hoo!! The mom said the child wanted a "NASCAR Hot Wheels" cake so this is what I did. The track and tires are MMF. Everything else is BC. I used piping gel to transfer the image in the middle. I had never worked w/a piece of MMF that big before, and it stretched some when I moved it. I figure it just gives the asphalt a more authentic look...lol. The mom is going to put cars on it when she gets it home.

This is my first cake. I made it for my son's 2nd birthday. I got the idea from a user here and had tons of fun making it. I used butter cream icing and black sugar sprinkles for the road. I tried to find smaller cars but had no luck. I ended up using a hot wheels car. As you can see I had a little trouble piping the lines in the road. They didn't want to adhere to the sugar sprinkles.

Another one done - I had a lot of fun making this one! My son's request for his party tomorrow - he loves NASCAR and Jeff Gordon and wanted the 3D car cake, so he got it! Base cake is 9x13 party rainbow chip and car is chocolate fudge - all frosted in buttercream. Thanks for looking!

Cute little car! I really hate trying to do character cakes because I know I will never get the detail or expression just right - kids are very observant and notice these things! I thought about adding the Rust-eze logo on the hood, but remembered it was for a 4 year old who probably wouldn't care. Luckily, he loved it! His sister got the Cozy COne Motel cake with Sally - posting next.

This cake was before I took any Wilton courses - hence the canned frosting. The "infield" is green sugar and the cars are plastic party favors.
