This was my entry for the Austin Capital Confectioners cake show. I took home a 2nd place medal for the Beginners Sculpted Cakes division. Not bad considering I didn't decide to enter until less than a week before -- I had my 2nd child 7 weeks ago and figured I'd be too busy to compete, but it was killing me not to try. It's handpainted fondant with royal accents.

I made this for my daughter's first birthday, since the theme was orange and green. It is a chocolate cake covered w/oreo crumbs, chocolate rocks, gummy worms, and a chocolate cake carrot covered with fondant and a chocolate bunny (I didn't make the bunny).

No one liked this one. They said he looked "dirty". I liked him! He is my first crack at flow icing, which oozed off the sides and really got me PO'd lol

But I think it turned out ok..thanks for looking, I think I'll stick to fondant.

The cake is two 2 layer 8 inch chocolate madeira covered in chocolate bc and fondant. The rabbit is made out of rice crispies covered in choc bc and fondant with some spaghetti holding its ears up. It was a nightmare trying not to stain the white fondant with chocolate bc! I do not feel this is one of my better cakes, but as long as the child likes it that is the main thing (I will find out tomorrow). I took inspiration from Rosiecakes and my son's magic set.

Made for a little girl who is turning 10 and has a green stuffed bunny named (Greenie). She's had him since she was 2. This Greenie was very sneaky though she found a way to eat a little of her chocolate bunny before the party and got a little on her face!!!(HeHe)!!

I made this for my daughters 8th birthday party. The magic hat is 2 - 8 inch rounds, koula fudge cake, topped a 10 inch cardboard round covered in frosting. The cupcakes are Hostess snowball that I piped the face on and added ears that I made out of cardstock and toothpicks.

My daughter is into magic so this was her birthday "cake." It's actually all rice krispie treats. Kids never eat the cake, just the icing so I thought rice krispie treats would go over better and be easier to work with. Thanks to the other magic hat pictures for inspiration! The rim of the hat is a fondant covered cake board. The ears of the rabbit are gumpaste and the wand is a gumpaste/fondant blend. The rabbit is molded from the bear pan and covered in candy melts with fondant features. black mmf

This cake was made for a raffle prize at my sons Spring / Easter Fair. It is all fondant / gumpaste apart from the large egg which was one that I bought. The model was meant to be my son in his school uniform! (He thinks it's a good likeness so that's good enough for me). Any comments / criticisms welcome. Thanks for looking.
