Hi sugar friends!
This is another John Henry floral book cake, 6 to go :-) Believe it or not, this is NOT a black and white pic, but it sure looks like one. The fresh glads and bb make it look that way. If you have any questions, please address them to my e-mail, cakebabe1@aol.com
Thanks for peeking!

This is a 10", 8" and 6" cake made for a 40th birthday. I wasn't given much detail on what they wanted and I had 2 days to come up with something so I decided to do a wine theme instead of over the hill. The grapes, flowers and some of the leaves are made with fondant and dusted with luster and petal dusts. Icing is buttercream and fondant accents on the bottom layer.

Made for my MIL who is an avid quilter for her bday. Got the inspiration from Collette Peters tiered quilted cake. 8" round, carved into an octagon. Did each of the 4 quilt block styles twice. All buttercream ... used diamond impression mat on the sides prior to piping the quilt designs. In the future I'd likely do what Collette did for her designs and make RI plaques out of them but I didn't have the time to mess with it ~ was kind of a quick job but I think she'll love it just the same :)

This was for my sister's "Diaper Shower". It was my first fondant cake and there are
a lot of flaws, but overall I was pleased. My bear smooshed when I put the head on. Next time, I will let them dry before I attach the head and body. It was alot of fun and a huge hit at the party.

All white wedding cake with puffy quilted MMF. I put just a little more icing than crumb coat to make it puff out. Made for a young couple getting married today. It was a freeby.

This was a very simple (yet elegant!) cake to do. I put the buttercream on very heavy allowed it to slightly crust (I think if it crusted too much, it would have put the little elephant cracks in) I used an impress mat to lightly put in the quilted then went over it again with a small roller. The ribbon has tape backing on it to avoid the greas marks and the edging was done with a #2 tip.

This cake was a great combination for me..I got to do the elegant "thang" and also did the gum paste characters of the bride and groom. they were pretty easy to do,, didnt have to do a lot of features on thier face or anything.

I had under an hour to decorate a cake, so this is what I got! I decided to try a "quilted pattern, which I've never tried, but I thought it turned out okay... I don't know what you're SUPPOSED to use to make this though, I'll have to check that out. It's all chocolate fondant, both the covering and the little round pieces.

Three tier 9, 7, 5". Chocolate with chocolate and fresh strawberries filling. Covered in fondant, embelished with tiny purple flowers (fondant) and silver satin ribbon. It was suppose to be for Saturday noon instead they called and picked it up at 5:30 friday evening. I barely had time to finish let alone fix the bottom tier.

6/8/10/12 squares, all BC, navy blue ribbon with silk roses provided by bride over a fountain. When I set this up, the facility person said, "A fountain? We dont' get many of those!" hahaha! Quilted the bottom tier using skewer sticks, with silver dragees. Silver dragees also scattered on the top tier basketweave.

Inspired by carriescakes.com and helipops, this was my first atempt to quilt. I managed to figure out the square cake, but for the life of me I can't get the top of a round cake to look decent! I tried doing the sides first, but I couldn't match the quilt on top so I tore it off and tried quilting the fondant before covering - that looked worse. I tore it off again and gave up on trying to quilt the top!

I am very please with the outcome of this cake. White Almond Sour Cream with vanilla almond buttercream. I had so much trouble with smoothing this cake this time. Square cakes hate me! LOL. The brides reception was all white with some lime green. Had lots of inspiration from here on CC. Thanks for looking! :D

This was for a lil' girl turning "5". I wish I was there to see her face. Her grandmother works with my wife and requested a special design, so this is what we came up with. It is 3 tiers. The bottom 10" and the top 6" are Chocolate cake filled with chocolate b/c. The middle tier is 8" and filled with strawberry cream.

This has become like my signature cake. It seems to be the favorite of brides this year. This cake is made with crusted buttercream and then using the impression mat for the little quilting. Its so simple and pretty.
