This is an 11x15 cake covered in buttercream icing. I made the purse out of a 2 layer 8" square cake and then decorated it to match the invitation. I used buttercream icing and then brushed it to get a smooth look. The make-up is all chocolate.

I was asked to make a Dooney brand purse and didn't know how to use luster dusts yet so this is all I could do. Great experience w/fondant!! I learned a lot making this one.

This was a first...someone needed a cake for a "makeover birthday party" that focused on makeup, shopping, teen girl stuff. I had never worked with fondant or with the edible pearls before. I was able to get a little creative with the beads, making a necklace, earrings, and a pearl button for the purse that I think added a bit to the finished product. It was fun, although I didn't care for the fondant much.

Birthday cake for my daughter's friend. First attempt at a purse. Not as easy as I thought it would be. I decorated in BC and used fondant for handles and zipper. I used the Wilton's fondant. One of these days I will get brave and make the MMF.

I made this so that it would resemble the patchwork coach purse. It was for a 16th birthday. The handles are actual plastic purse handles found at a craft store. Everything is edible.

My first purse cake. All fondant decorations painted in luster dust. Stamped butterflies, bees, ladybugs, & dragonflies using rubber stamps dipped in black gel/paste color thinned with lemon extract. Gumtex added to fondant to shape handles. Sprayed with water before stamping to simulate leather grain

Made this cake over the weekend for my lovely MIL. She loved it! I wasn't too crazy about the paint job, and with exception to the zipper, liked the details. Too much work though and don't think I'll be doing it again any time soon!

I was making this cake as a practice for a handbag cake, and just so happens it was easter so I doctored it up to be more festive for the occasion! The chick and bunny are fondant, first time modeling so don't laugh!!!. :) Also first time using luster dust and was mixing it with water so it didn't come out right. But thanks to this fantastic web site, I have since learned how to use it correctly!

This was for my daughter's 10th bday. She had a shopping theme and a wonderful time with her friends doing a Mall Mania Scavenger Hunt. The cake was white with strawberry filling. Cut, carved and stacked a 1/2 sheet cake. (Have to admit I purchased it at a local grocery store. Just plum ran out of time to bake this one.) MMF over BC crumbcoat. The handle was a wire purchased at Hobby Lobby for stringing beads for making a purse. We used gumballs instead. The clasp is a brad just stuck into the cake.

I made this one for my daughter's kid party. The big one turned out so well I wanted to try a smaller one. I used mini loaves of pound cake with strawberry filling. MMF with Bc crumbcoat. Gumball handle on a pipecleaner. Latch, brad pushed into cake.

This isn't a great cake, but it was a hard cake to stabilize...but fun to decorate. I love fondant...hate working with chocolate! I was having a hard time coloring the white chocolate. I had never worked with it before, and I still have no idea how to color it...I will have to reasearch it next time!
