Thanks to Connie (Boween) this purse was a success. I finally got up the nerve to go this cake for a little girl. The mom loved it so much that she didn't want to cut it. It was a really fun cake....once again thanks Connie for your help.....

This was my birthday cake last weekend. I had a great time making this cake. I know it is not as great as other purse cakes on this site but for a first timer I don't think that I did a really bad job. I know that there are so many things that I could fix but it was a really good try.

6 inch caramel mud cake purse. Not real happy with this one. I think it looks more like a little girl wearing a bonnet, with two eyes and a big smile. I was worried about covering this shape in fondant but that was fairly easy. THe trouble was getting the handle/strap to look realistic... I tried so many ways and was also a problem on another cake a few months back... If anyone has any tips with how to get handles/straps to look realistic, i would love to know and have your help

This cake was inspired by purse cake done by "micfish". The pattern is freehanded and the handle is ribbon. My sister wanted a "coach" purse for her birthday, so I made this one as a joke with collaboration from my Mom. We had TONS of fun. This is my first sculpted cake and my first scratch made cake. It's a scratch golden yellow cake with buttercream and chocolate cream cheese buttercream. I also made Cake Balls with the leftover carved parts. YUMMY!

Quick first time purse. I tried to make a homemade chocolate cake and ended up with a crumbling mess. The flavor was great, but the texture was off. I filled and frosted the cake with a peanut buttercream frosting. Carved it as best as I could. And then covered it in MMF. Purses are a lot harder than the look!!!!!!!

Chocolate squares cakes stood on end, iced in chocolate icng and wrapped in pink chocolate texture sheets with gumpaste Orchid and keys. The texture sheets are not the same as transfer sheets. These are sheets of clear plastic with an embossed design texture in the plastic. This one was Crocodile hide pattern.

This was my first attempt to make a purse cake. It was actually a trial run of a sweet 16 cake that I am doing next week. I learned a lot in the process of making it. The cake is made from 2 8X8 cake pans and it is covered and accented with MMF.

Birthday cake for a woman who LOVES her purses! I used her initials (TW) in the design in place of the LV. Covered in rolled BC, design done in several colors of royal icing. The cake had to travel 70 miles in the heat- didn't travel well! The BC began sliding off the cake and the handle broke. She loved it though! So much so that she refused to cut the cake! She saved it to take into work with her the following Monday to "show it off". That's a compliment!

This cake was one that Nicholas Lodge taught. I loved making this cake. It taught me a lot. Sorry it's not really clear. For some reason it gets blurry when I put on this site.

I didn't have a shoe or purse cookie cutter -- so I used a round cookie cutter and drew the shoe and purse on the cookie -- used Antonia74 (Helen) receipe for cookies and icing.

Oh boy are these 'toys' interesting!! was told the bday girl loves Bratz, but the mom does NOT!! so had to come up w/a compromise....a bratz cake w/o the bratz girls. mom and daughter finally agreed on this!! it was pretty cool though b/c when i dropped the cake off.....the mom used the same wrapping for the gifts that i did on the cake board!!

i was so worried this was going to fall over....the cake was 7.5" tall....w/o the handle!!! but I got lucky.

This was my very first major order, it was for a sweet 16 party. Mom wanted shoebox and purse cakes, thanks to many of the ideas that I incorporated from this website, I was able to do it. The shoebox lid is a MMF covered styrofoam rectangle. However, the bottom of box and handbag are cakes. I am really not that comfortable with fondant yet, so there were alot of little mistakes, they loved it though. The shoe was made from gumpaste. Any tips for working with fondant???
