I made this cake for a friend's son's birthday party. I used the technique called "frozen buttercream transfer" that I learned from the cake central articles. It's great! I certainly have room for improvement with the technique, but it opens up a whole new world of possibilities for decorating. It was really fun, too.
This was a two-layer 10" square chocolate cake with buttercream filling and buttercream frosting and decorations. Thanks!

My son loves transformers so for his 9th birthday he wanted Optimus Prime...of course not in truck form...that would have been easier...LOL. Cake is a sugar cookie vanilla cake that I found here. It was great. Wish I had more time to spend on it, but he loved it so that is all that matters.

This was my first attempt at a carved vehicle. It was a challenge but really fun to make. I carved it from pound cake using one of my sons toy transformers as a guide.

For a little boy's 7th birthday. Caramel mud cake with chocolate ganache. This turned out to be a lot more work than I'd anticipated! It was essentially 13 mini cakes all ganached and covered in fondant separately! And then there were all the details! And never even heard of Transformers until being asked to do this cake, so it was a steep learning curve! :-)

For a very long time I had no idea what a FBC was. So one day I actually figured it out. This is my very first attempt at a FBC transfer. Not too bad considering my head was killing me at the time. It was for my son to bring to work the next day for his birthday. I see all the imperfections, but no one else seemed to.

I call this... Chubby Optimus!! hahaha! This cake was for my Brother's 6th Birthday.
I started with a 10" round chocolate fudge cake with buttercream, and carved it. I used MMF for everything, and then petal dust to add detail and painted on the silver & gold.

I made this for my son's 5th B-day. It is all fondant- 10", 9" 6". He wanted a cake with Optimus Prime standing on top and probably wanted it to actually transform. It's so funny the expectations non-cake makers have, and now even my own child (lol). He loved it anyway!TFL
