I was asked by my friend to make a cake for her birthday to bring into her work so they could taste buttercream icing(all the women have tasted is grocery store cakes). I made it quickly as the holiday season does not leave much time to do extra's. Butter pecan cake, filled with buttercream icing and fondant bow. You must excuse my first time ability to flub up pointsetta's. I will work on them by next year. Thanks for looking...sue

Well, my first dissapointment with a cake. Not at what what I had envisioned but seemed I had problems at every turn and had to improvise to correct things where I could. Done for a friend for her sister's birthday. The sister was born on Christmas day, but she didn't want anything overtly "christmassy".

This is a chocolate cake, with cookies 'n cream filling, covered in chocolate buttercream frosting. The balloons and presents are a FBCT. "Just the guy" is a funny story - years ago, Joel's mother had taken a photo of him and his wife to a bakery for an edible image to be placed on his birthday cake. She told the staff she wanted the image to be of "just the guy." When she picked up the cake, the edible image was of Joel AND his wife, and on the cake was written "Just the guy!" Now it's the family joke

6inch fruitcake marzipanned and covered with FondX. My first time working with marzipan. Found it very difficult to use and so my cake covering is warped and untidy.
Details made from modelling paste, except for his glasses which I made from jewellery wire.
Parts of this design borrowed from someone here on cc. I cannot credit the designer yet because their name has not been shown in the holiday contest. Thanks for looking.

This is the present cake, all fondant. I marbled red fondant and white fondant together to get the "peppermint swirl" look. The fondant pieces on the sides are snow-flake shapes that I painted with gold luster dust. The cake was white almond sour cream (recipe from this site) with raspberry buttercream filling.

Presents are covered with fondant and hand painted with holly, berries and stars; fondant bows complete the packages. The board is covered to look like a hardwood floor.

I've wanted to do a stacked gift cake for a while. A friend from work volunteered to feed a group of homeless women and children for Christmas so this was my gift to them. Bottom is chocolate cake with peanut butter ganache filling and top is vanilla filled with cookies and cream. Covered in MMF with gumpaste and MMF bow.

This was my second wedding cake I've done. It is iced in red buttercream with white fondant ribbons to resemble a present. It was very hard to place on cake because of so much RED! Bottom tier is fake. Top bow of cake is purchased.

This was a last minute decision for a Christmas Eve dinner. It was patterned after one from the 2006 Wilton Book, at least I think it was the 2006.

This was my first paying job!!! I used cake dummy's. And one of the bow's is fondant, so is the gift tag. The gal I did it for wanted it to be elegant and look like gifts. I was very nervous making these cakes.

The gift bag is yellow cake with a "twinkie" filling, covered in marshmallow fondant. The tissue paper is gumpaste. The small cake on the left is yellow cake with the same filling, covered with chocolate frosting and fondant accents. The small cake on the right is chocolate cake with the same filling. I was inspired by a combination of pictures from this site - thanks everyone!
