I alway make my twin nieces' birthday cake, but I don't tell them what I'm doing. This year they had a slumber party, and I've always wanted to try a popcorn cake. All BC, dipped paintbrush in watered down brown gel to make popcorn look more realistic.

Covered in fondant, with fondant ropes, real popcorn garland, chocolate pinecones, with a sugar cookie/royal icing covered star cookie at the top. The cake was chocolate with a chocolate ganache and peppermint candycane buttercream filling, covered in chocolate ganache and then fondant. I used the "no-hole" topsy turvy method with royal icing between tiers as glue and two dowels to stabilize the structure. It worked surprisingly well and less work then cutting out the hole.

I had so much fun making this cake for a very special little girl at my church. This was my first try making popcorn - it turned out to be much easier than I thought. The birthday girl and her sisters took turns playing with the gum paste microphone before they cut the cake - Cake Karaoke!

This cake was for the opening night of the local prep school's play, JB. Based on the story of Job, this play takes place in a circus tent and is narrated by a balloon vendor and a popcorn vendor. I learned how to do the cup cakes from this site. If you've read or seen the play you will be able to recognize the figure referrences. This cake was a huge hit and would make a great birthday cake for circus party.

Thanks to all the great photos on this site, especially susanscakebabies, I was able to make up this cake in a snap! I used Scout caramel corn for the top. I also made fondant using the Wilton recipe - it tastes so much better than the boxed! Loving the wilton glitter gel icing, too.

This was for a little girl who was having a party at the new Warren Movie Theater. It looked like a big bucket of popcorn and we used our Cricut to cut the letters and put them on the custom painted pot. The "popcorn" is mini marshmallows that are cut with scissors (randomly) and then the centers are painted yellow with food coloring. The effect was awesome. Sorry I can't share the instructions on how to do the bouquet...the originator has copyrighted it.

made this for one of my bff's son's 3rd birthday. Since it was being held at a Movie Tavern I thought this would be cute. Its 4 Layers: 2- 8" Marble cake, 1-9" Fudge & 1- 10" Choc. Fudge! I used Vanilla buttercream to crumb coat; MMF in panels on the side because im not PRO at fondant..im just getting started. The stripes & letters all MMF too! Top is Mini Marshmellows which I just pinched' 3 together and really quickly looked like Popcorn! I pretty much just put a little water and Wilton Butter colored Gel and brushed on the marshmellows and I went a little heavier on the top of the cake w/Icing for them to stick! Everyone at the Theatre kept coming up and asking if it was ReAL!!

I got the idea for these cupcakes from different ones I've seen here on Cake Central. Thanks everybody! I made these for a cupcake walk at our schools Fall Fest this past October. They were fun to make, but very time consuming. I used marshmallows for the popcorn. I cut the marshmallows in a crisscross to make them look like popcorn.

Miniature Popcorn cups filled with banana cupcakes, banana filling, & banana whipped topping.
Made these for my Dad's Birthday. He's a big fan of Banana Cream Pie but his all time favorite food is Popcorn! So I mixed the two. The little cups are chocolate made from Candy Melts. Stripes are fondant.

This is a Marylin Monroe cake that I hand painted for my uncle's birthday. He loves her so i thought it would be fitting to make this for him. I hand made the popcorns out of fondant and painted them as well.

The face is from a black and white picture I found on the internet, I just tried to replicate it on the fondant with black gel coloring. It took about an hour to get just right :)
