This was my other entry to the Queen City Sugar Arts Show. It took first place in Techniques Not on a Cake - Other, and Best of that Division. It was created from both light and dark gingerbread. All flowers are created from gumpaste. I just wanted to set out to show that Gingerbread is NOT just for Christmas! Special thanks to Fairytale for helpful pointers regarding competing with gingerbread! Thanks for looking!

This cake was for a man that loves hunting and fishing. I could never get my fish to "break" the water right so I just put a fish tail in the pond. The cake is WASC, buttercream and a few fondant accents. The fish tail and rocks are fondant. TFL!

Cake in the advanced spring category. It got 3rd. Fondant covered cake that was then sponged with royal icing to give texture. "Dirt" is dark brown sugar, all the vegetables and rocks for the path are fondant. Bunny, cow, bird on fence, sheep, ducks, and chickens are all fondant/gumpaste. The sheep was then piped with royal icing to do the "wool". The baby duck is tail-up in the pond, the bunny took a carrot out, and the chicken actually has eggs underneath it. Fun cake to do.

The customer brought me a pic of the cake she wanted and the 3 tiny "pets" to go by. Not my original idea, but I don't know where she found the pic.

This is a 2 layer 10 " strawberry cake with butter cream icing. The ducks are from a mini loaf pan stacked and sculptedto size and shape. This was for a boy and girl twins. The frogs leaping in the front of the pond are sugar candies. The yellow ducks are just party favor picks from the client.

10" tiramisu cake, covered in WBC BC, decorated to be a frog/pond/grass scene. Fondant accents, piping gel pond, RI lily flowers (actually left over mums from course 2). I cheated on the frog - he's from walmart's toy bin. Oh well, this was a very short notice cake (12 hours).

This is made using fondant. I painted directly onto the fondant using food coloring. The plants are made using royal icing on toothpicks. This was my first time to make 3D animals. As you can tell, I'm not very good at sculpting!

This is just a really quick cake. I used a pourable glaze and then airbrushed it. I then outlined in BC.

A big thank you to Theresa50 for the design idea and to Subrau for inspiring the blue cake board. I made this for my mom's 67th birthday. She loved it even though the towers fell down and the frogs fell apart before we even got it cut.

My MIL wanted a very small 6" yellow cake w/chocolate buttercream for her neighbors birthday, I was told he liked to fish. I already had the cat tails, rocks, logs, and flowers; I only had to make the fishing pole, bag, and dock. My husband laughed and said how do you fish with a waterfall. I thought the single layer 6" and 8" was much cuter than just a double layer 6" cake.

One of my Grandmother's favorite hobbies is fishing! She has a cabin with a wharf and often fishes there so I made this cake for her 80th birthday dinner. The square grass covered cake is a double layer banana cake while the pond is a single layer chocolate cake. The fisherman, fish and stepping stones are hand made from fondant/gum paste and the wharf is made from gum paste! May, 2009.

This is my first time using MMF and making a fancy cake like this. The inside is chocolate cake. The decorations are made with fondant and there is a layer of buttercream frosting between the fondant and the cake.

I made this frog cake from the Wilton 3D Bear pan. I got the idea from the Wilton site. Frog, pond, and flowers are buttercream. Lily pad is a fondant covered cake board. I had a problem with one of it's arms falling off, but finally got it to stay.

Done for a fishing nut who takes his faithful dog & playful pup with him. All fondant except fishing rod & line. Not sure if you can see the water dripping on the line & the pup's paws - this was achieved with droplets of piping gel. Great fun to do.

It was my intention to make this cake to look like a pond (even though it doesn't really). It's decorated with a frog, ladybug, caterpillar, butterfly and waterlillies. This is my third attempt at decorating cakes.

The models for this cake came from my garden.... the water lily, lily pad, water lettuce, Japanese iris, river rock, and even the frog. All in gum paste, except the river rock, which is fondant and gum paste. Cakes covered in white fondant, with moss green butter cream piped around the edges.
