White cake/BC icing - made for my sister-in-law's birthday. She had just asked for a cake with icing on it just because she loves the taste but I was in the mood to "play"

This is my first girly birthday cake. Most of the cakes I do are for boys! This was taken before I added a fondant plaque of Pooh bear. Frosted in buttercream and everything else is MMF.

I did this cake for my own birthday. I am a HUGE fan of Polka dots. It is a 4 layer cake, alternating white cake with pineapple cake. All decorations are BC dots.

Six and eight inch tiers, covered in fondant with fondant roses and leaves, small dots and borders are buttercream. I was inspired by others' designs on CC. Thanks for looking!

I took the inspiration from the invitation as well a a variety of polka dot cakes I've seen posted on Cake Central. Its a vanilla cake with chocolate cream cheese filling frosted with butter cream with just a tad of almond extract. And of course the polka-ducks(as my nephew calls them) are marshmallow fondant. For the first time I am actually happy with my cake! I still see all the flaws etc, but I feel pretty satisfied.

This cake really should have been done in fondant but the couple wanted buttercream. I was disappointed that I couldn't get the buttercream to look more smooth but I gave it my best shot.

This was my very first attempt at using MMF and it turned out pretty good. I learned to roll it thinner next time and to make it more pliable, but this one turned out better than I thought.

Pink and Brown Fondant. I initially was only going to use one shade of pink. I did the light pink and made the bow, then set it up to dry overnight. The next morning, the light pink had REALLY faded. Very noticably. I've never had this happen with fondant before. So I made a medium shade and finished it with 3 colors.

This was a learning experience. My first gift box cake, my first fondant bow and the first time making baby booties. It was lots of fun. My favorite so far. Box top is cardboard cut and formed intoa box lid, covered in gumpaste with a fondant bow and ribbons. The cake is 4 layers (2 chocolate, 1 white and 1 strawberry) iced in buttercream with hand painted polka dots. Ribbon, baby shoes, tissue paper and teddy bear are fondant.

This was the first birthday cake I've done delivered to a wedding reception.
It was the flower girl's birthday, and the dots matched her dress...fondant dots over buttercream-iced carrot cake with cream cheese filling.

My son had two birthday parties...this was the second cake I made. My very first attempt at fondant (MMF). It certainly wasn't easy -- to say the least! I had so much more planned for this cake, but after rolling out the fondant for what seemed to be about a bijillion times, I didn't have time to do much else. The Elmo is a FBCT, border is BC and the accents/polka dots are fondant. Just need some practice.

Four tiers: Chocolate, hazelnut, peanut butter and white chocolate. Chocolate buttercream. MMF fondant circles in various shades of pink. People really seemed to like it. A lot of people said they'd never seen a chocolate wedding cake before!

Three tier polka dot cake for a my friends daughter. It kind of hard to tell but the buttercream frosting is a light green. I'mreally pleased with the way this cake turned out.I am still working on getting my buttercream smooth though.I got the idea from a lot of great cc members pictures. This is only my 2nd try at a fondant bow.
