While looking through purse cake photos in preparation for making one for my aun't birthday, my 4 year old daughter asked for a purse cake also. I kept both cakes a total surprise from her and this is what she found when she came home from her grandparents last night. This is only my 2nd purse cake (made this and the 1st both last night). My aunt's cake took 1 hour but after getting the hang of it this one literally only took about 15 minutes!

This is my first attempt at a FBCT. It's far from perfect, but for a first attempt I'm pretty happy. It's a trial run for a cake I'm doing next week. The cake is a white with buttercream filling. The icing and all decorations are also buttercream.

This is a cake I did for a little girls 2nd birthday. The head of the cake is a 10" round and the ears are 6" round cakes that I trimed to fit the shape of the head. The sides and face are buttercream, and the facial features and ears are done in fondant.

This was for a teenager's birthday. White cake, buttercream icing, with MMF accents and bow. I thought 2 days would be long enough for the MMF loops to dry, but boy was I wrong! The bow gave me fits. I finally decided to stack them and add the daisies on top. I was upset, but the birthday girl didn't know the difference!

This is my first attempt at Fondant and it was a very rough one, LOL. I had quite a few cracks and tears that I had to try to somewhat cover with the dots.
The cake is a white mix with a strawberry banana pudding filling inside. The bottom border is BC, everything else is MMF.

This cake was for my daughter's best friend.... chocolate & french vanilla cake with chocolate filling. The flowers are MMF with luster dust. lol ~ I think I may have had a bit too much coffee as my writing is 'shaky'.

I made this for my mother-in-law's birthday to take to her office. Now, however, I feel like it looks like a baby shower cake!! It's a 10" WASC, 8" yellow, and 6" chocolate with raspberry buttercream filling and crusting BC frosting. MMF decorations.

This cake was done as a going away cake for one of our Docs who was starting a new practice elsewhere. The cake was a three tier cake covered in fondant. All decorations done in fondant. Pink boarder done in BC. My 1st three tier cake!

This is a cake full of firsts!! First gluten free cake (did not rise well!), first stacked cake, first time using MMF, first time attaching ribbon to cake. It turned out pretty well, however, I think the polka dots are a bit much - gives me a headache. :) It was made for a friend who adores polka dots, so she loved it. I am an amateur here, so I will take as much advice or suggestions as I can get! Thank you!

The mom-to-be did not want a traditional baby shower cake so I made her this one instead. The cake was banana cake with cream cheese icing.

9 inch on the bottom, 6 inch on the top. Both covered with buttercream with MMF accents. It may be hard to see but it says "Brittany" on the top of the bottom layer. This cake was such a breeze! I planned ahead and made the buttercream the day before the cake, and used colors of MMF that I had left over.

I finally had an opportunity to try a purse cake. I really liked doing this, and the candy accessories were so easy! I really struggled with the gumpaste handle for some reason, so the handle didn't turn out as I had hoped it would. But, the customer's daugher loved it - she loves bright colors, polka dots and her Ipod, so I think I covered all those with this cake!

Mom wanted to match partyware (green with pink polka dots). Wanted to put a bow on the top but it just wasn't coming out right. All cakes covered in BC with MMF accents including the name.

My first try using MMF and I think I did something wrong because it was really hard to work with! Everyone else raves about it though so I guess I will try and give it another shot.

Scratch yellow cake, each tier torted. Bottom layer vanilla moistening syrup, chocolate ganache. Top layer vanilla moistening syrup, raspberry buttercream. Chocolate buttercream, fondant accents. Everything was fine till I started frosting and it just went flop! The icing wouldn't smooth, then it would crack!!! The fondant was drying out so quickly! My friend planned a small baby roses bundle to go on top. Hopefully that will distract from all the errors. I was just off the game today! Any ideas?

I made all of the polka dots and letters ahead of time. It was for my sister's baby shower with a polka dot theme.

Iced in buttercream; fondant balloons and "1". Made to match partyware, which explains the hideous shade of green

These are my first pillow cakes, my first tiered cake, and only my second fondant cake. I was a bit nervous, since it was for a friend's daughter's huge birthday party and I had to transport the entire thing about 80 miles, but it made it. Note the sheet cake in the back - it was there in case mine flopped. The little smash cake was supposed to have a tiara too, but the dang thing broke on the way! The one that survived was made from gum paste and held together with super glue.

This cake consisted of many "firsts" for me. First 3-D cake, first time using the Melvira Method (which is AWESOME), and the first time using MMF. Hopefully you can tell that this is a purse cake that I made for my step-daughter's 12th Birthday party. I was very happy with it, and hopfully my next one will look even better. Buttercream Dream Icing with MMF details, chocolate candies (but I did not make those, ran out of time...)

I got the idea for this cake from the mom to be's napkin choice. It was for a girl so she asked for the striping to be pink. It's a 14-in. round frosted in buttercream w/ buttercream dots. The carriage is a carved 9-in. round. Handles and details are fondant w/ gumpaste trimmed in gold luster dust (w/ rum).

Buttercream with fondant accents, ruffles, and cloth ribbon. I don't know where the design for the cake came from - a friend showed me the picture, so if it's someone's design, let me know!!!

This cake is covered with buttercream--dots and all. I love white cake with fresh flowers! The bride's silver-tone double heart tops it off.

Birthday cakes for a friend's twins. It was the girls' 7th birthday. One likes purple, one likes pink. One likes chocolate, one likes vanilla. So... they each got their own cake with what they like. :-)
Made with bc icing, vanilla cake had vanilla/almond pudding filling, choc cake had choc/almond pudding filling.

Found this design on CC and loved it. Decided to do it for a best friend's mom for her birthday. They only needed one layer of cake so the top two layers were styrofoam. It was a huge hit! Chocolate cake with chocolate/almond pudding filling, bc icing and fondant accents.
