Birthday cake for my special xmas angels - my neice and nephew who will be 1 on Thursday. They arrived 3 months prematurely but have survived against all the odds and are now driving my sister mad with all their antics! Traditional xmas fruit cake on the bottom and orange and passionfruit top layer, fondant covering and decorations. Happy birthday Amelie and Seth!

My Mom's birthday is Christmas day and she always gets a Christmas/birthday cake. So this year I promised her it would have nothing to do with Christmas.

I made this cake to match the napkin from the baby shower for a little girl. The word "baby" on the cake is an FBCT that I attempted to make like the word "baby" on the napkin. All in all I thought it came out a pretty good match.
French Vanilla cake, french vanilla filling and all buttercream frosting. TFL!

Inspired by the incredible cupcakistry of o'holysweet! on flickr.com. I hate the night time photography. Special Education teacher by day, cake artist by night. Probably won't even get a chance to snap a daylight pic 'cause I leave for and return from work in the dark! Gotta love winter. If only I could quit my day job!

Made for my daughters fourth birthday. Used Cadbury Chocolate cake recipe and frosted with butter icing. Decorated with toy Cinderella that took forever to find and wrapped with ribbon. Very simple but all the children loved it.

I made this using a small metal mixing bowl. It's a yellow cake with buttercream filling and marshmallow fondant with gumpaste hydrangeas.

I even did a wash of gold lusterdust to give it a subtle sparkle.

This was for my friend's baby shower. She did not want anything fancy and did not find out what she was having so I went with a very basic design (even though I really wanted to go crazy with it!!) Bottom cake is French vanilla, top is chocolate. She also specifically asked for no edible babies on the cake so ai just made a simple fondant teddy bear as a topper. All covered and decorated in fondant.

I made this for my husband's grandma's 80th birthday. It was a 6-8-10"...I actually baked & iced it a couple weeks before the party since we were coming in from vacation the night before the party. My friend came over to take it out of the freezer early for me. I had made all the fondant decors before we left so they were dry & ready to just stick on the cake once I had it assembled. All done, an hour drive to transport through a hail storm & it was a hit with 3 different flavors & one happy grandma!

Inspired by a gorgeous cake by sugarshack. DH cake mix, BC covered in MMF with MMF accents. BC border (really crooked, I know). How does everyone keep their fondant so clean and not covered in powdered sugar?

This is my first cake after a long break to focus on schoolwork. It is for a double shower--a boy and a girl. Thanks to all the people who have done onesie cakes for the inspiration. I tried two colors in the icing bag for the border. Top border has blue on the outside; bottom has pink on the outside. Color of photo was funky due to crazy new lightbulbs in kitchen. I am a Critique Subgroup Member so all constructive comments welcome. Thanks.

I go so many ideas from pictures on this site and was really pleased with the way the cake turned out. Unfortunately, the picture just doesn't really do it justice because the lighting wasn't right so the colors don't really look right, nor does the luster dust...oh well.

Each tier is frosted in Butter Cream and set on an angle. The Daisies are Fondant. Each tier also had a different flavor of cake and filling: Chocolate w/raspberry filling, Yellow w/ key lime mouse, white w/ pastry cream, and Marble with cookies and cream filling. I am still trying to perfect the picture perfect smooth butter cream icing.

This cake is a larger version of the one I did last year...I made it for our real estate agen't best friend. It is WASC (marble version) and filled with fudge SMBC and iced under fondant with cappuccino SMBC and then covered in fondant. All the modeling is my usual fondant/gum-tex mix. Thanks for looking!!!

For my sister when she came home with her little girl. The idea came from a small wooden mobile that I gave her for the nursery. It was cute in person, despite the terrible writing.
