This is my first try at a cake of my own choosing. I've had one Wilton class so far and had to do the prescribed class cake. So this one was for fun! It was my first time making or using chocolate buttercream, and first time with a tiered cake too.

The inspiration for this cake was the baby's bedding and the bib was a personalization about the baby's father.

Made for a friend celebrating her 50th birthday, this is a paisley shaped vanilla cake with a lightly lemon flavored buttercream. The flowers and border are purple fondant, the honoree's favorite color.

Bottom layer is strawberry buttercream, middle layer is chocolate genache and the top layer is vanilla buttercream. It was hard to get a decent photo due to light in location but the colour is copper luster dust on the cake board and chocolate number 50 is also dusted with the copper luster dust. really shinny and nice looking in person.

Bride wanted a tall cake, but not too much cake - so each layer has a foam lift to make it a little taller.. Handmade gumpaste carnations..

My third cake and semi-happy with it. (It was supposed to look like a dome, not a pumpkin.)
Inspired by a few gorgeous cakes I saw on Cake Central.
Made it for my best girlfriends 35th Masquerade Birthday party.
It took a lot of time. Made everything from scratch. Cut all of the shapes by hand. Homemade marshmallow fondant, 6" Wilton ball cake pan, 8" round cake cut into petal shape. Mixed Tylose powder & MMF to make the shapes. First (and probably last) time piping - had the stupidity to color the RI orange, instead of yellow - hence the messy work and 4-5 coats of luster dust.
Base: 2 yellow cake layers soaked with Kahlua + cream cheese filling on top of 2 chocolate layers + raspberry filling. Ball: yellow & chocolate haves + cream cheese filling. Buttercream icing under fondant.

cake done as a last minute order. Didn't have much time to make the paisleys look proper and no time for any more detail.

With the unusual color scheme, I wasn't sure how this one would turn out. The bride-to-be liked the paisley design she had seen on another cake. It turned out a little better than I thought it might. First time using Tappits. It's hard to tell from the pictures, but the letters, gray paisleys and lighter gray stripes were painted lightly with silver dust. Flowers are gumpaste - everything else is fondant.

Super quick cake made for my mom to go with 6 dozen coordinating brownie bites I made for her to take to work. Her main 'want' was to be able to share her bday/cake with all her patients/their parents (she's an orthodontic assistant) so I made the bites-- then she wanted a cake for the staff to have at lunch.. so I threw this together!
