I got the design for this cake from the Wilton book - "The Wilton School - Decorating Cakes". I made this for a welcome back cake for a co-worker that had been on bed rest and maternity leave for close to a year. Lemon cake with buttercream frosting.

This is a birthday cake for my mother-in-law. The flowers are gumpaste and represent each of the states she has lived in. Magnolia (MS), pink and white lady slipper (MN), black eyed susan (MD), California poppies (CA), and although technically not the official flower, cherry blossoms for (Washington DC).

16-14-10-6 buttercream with filling. The bottom tier slid some from too much filling. You can't really see it here but I was really sweating whether it would survive the evening. Fresh orchids

Gearing up for my familys annual Easter picnic. Haven't decided what I'm doing for the cake yet, maybe some basket thing with a bunch of leftover flowers?????? But I've been working on the coloring of these so I figured I'd use them for that. These are actaully the first ones I've done......... not too bad. Had trouble with some of them breaking which is why you see royal icing but I figure you won't once they are on the cake.

This cake was done for some friends celebrating their 35th wedding anniversary last summer. The colors for the 35th anniversary are coral and jade, which I incorporated into the orchids and ivy. This particular design was inspired by one of Scott Woolley's cakes and it was his instructions I used for the orchids and the fan. Thanks Scott!! The bride later told me that in her original wedding bouquet she had moth orchids, Ivy and Stephanotis -- I had no idea when I designed the cake!!

I made this for a friend's sister's 60th birthday. Some 'hybrid' orchids for the top & a little poem, as she loves poetry! Hope there were no orchid aficionados at the party ... as there are no flowers on earth like these!! Flowers are flower paste, & poem is edible image on modelling paste. Sorry about photo, never got a good picture of the whole cake!

This is the cake I had this weekend. All Italian meringue buttercream filling and frosting (white cake with strawberry buttercream on top 2 tiers, chocolate amaretto mud cake with amaretto espresso and raspberry buttercream on bottom tier). All of the flowers are gumpaste... and there were a lot of them! I had 6 Sorbonne lilies (Look like stargazer, but deeper in color), 9 lime green cymbidium orchids and 28 cream and deep red roses and lily, orchid and rose leaves in various green shades.

This is a 6,8,10 stacked cake with fondand and ribbon on a fondant covered board. The first tier is strawberry cake with buttercream, the second is chocolate with a chocolate custart filling and the third yellow cake with strawberry cream filling. It is actually my daughter B-day cake but I took pictures of it without the "17" for my wedding portfolio.
