I love how this one turned out! Just for a little family get together, I wanted something summery that would appeal to the kids & adults. The bottom tier is 8" and I did fondant squares hand painted (with Americolor gel) to look like mosaic tiles. Top cake is a 6" carved & covered in fondant to look like a sand pail. Sand is a mix of brown sugar & crushed Nilla wafers. All the sea creatures (had so much fun making these), shovel & seashells are fondant.

This cake was made for one of my most difficult clients. She always has unique and different ideas for cakes. She wanted something truly original so we came up with this. A fish bowl was used to separate the top cake layer from the bottom. The octopus princess was made with RKT. Everything else is fondant/gumpaste.

Thanks to Sharon Zambito for her inspiration, or should I say apologies to Sharon for my blatant copy! Would that I had her skills, but she is an inspiration to me. (I know, too much "stuff" on the cake, but what can you do when you have an eager 3 yr old supervising and encouraging?) This is a cookies 'n cream cake with cream cheese truffle filling, covered in BC over white ganache crumb coat. Figures are fondant/tylose and shells are made of chocolate from molds I made with Dominic's Make Your Own Molds. Thanks to you CC people for tips, hints , recipes and mainly---courage to tackle new things.

My sister found this cake by Mayen on Youtube and asked me to make it. Cake is covered in MMF with MMF accents and figures. The little treasure chest opens up to place the candle. I have never done anything like this before, but thanks to all of you and your wonderful advice/tutorials I was able to give my nephew a cute cake. =)

Despite my feelings about The Wiggles, I really love how this cake turned out. I was so thrilled that my son quickly recognized all the characters: Greg, Jeff, Murray, Anthony, Henry the Octopus and Dorothy the Dinosaur. The road inspiration actually came from Exclusive Cake Shop on Flickr. The design for everything else came from The Wiggles website. TFL!

This is my first time I've tried making figures out of fondant/gum paste mix. I made the figures too big for the the cake. I also had issues with the octopus...the purple faded a lot! The "sea weed" is made out of gum paste and the sand is brown sugar.
