Inspired by psurrette (who did a much better job than I did!). This was my first stacked cake. I didn't center it very well, so I need more practice with stacking. Anyhow this was a 10-8-6 layer cake with Sugarshacks Icing. Bottom was double chocolate, top 7& middle were vanilla. Notes were made out of milk chocolate and the topper was made from milk chocolate as well. Thanks everyone for their guidance with this project.

This was a chance for me to try out my red velvet & cream cheese frosting recipes & my new stand. The cupcakes were delicious but the stand --well its wilton...... I did like how pretty the cupcakes looked on there because of the red. They would look really cool with blue stars on top for the 4th of July. I printed out musical notes and piped over them in chocolate.

My father's 44th birthday cake. I didn't have enough frosting, it was a last minute thing. Let's say it looks like wood grain, lol! I used lollipops for the tuners. Cut out of a sheet cake.

Made this for one of Husband's Co-worker's birthday. They work at a shop that makes musical instruments. It was cardamom cake with lemon curd filling (sounds gross, but actually quite good!) covered with Sarah Bernhart's Chocolate Glaze. Used chocolate transfer sheet for the yellow plaid look on the cut-outs.

This sheet cake was decorated with buttercream frosting and a deco pak kits for music. Red buttercream used to accent and write. I did use a kit for the musical notes and such that came with a band that wraps around the cake. I decided I did not like using this band, They are rolled so tightly when you get them and to get them to remain flat and not curl off the cake drove me nuts! - any suggestions from anyone who has used these and likes to use them - let me know your secret!

10" chocolate sponge with chocolate buttercream covered with two layers of sugarpaste (the customer didn't want marzipan due to nut allergies of some of her party guests) and one layer of sugarpaste didn't give a good enough finish! Pastillage musical notes cut using patchwork cutters, on silver wires. Pastillage/sugarpaste notes around the side/top of the cake.

This cake is made for a wonderful girl who means a lot to me...she is my best friend's daughter and she is my daughters' piano teacher. It is her Birthday AND she is entering the convent at the end of August! The cake has quite a few flaws and just didn't seem to want to work out the way I intended. The top layer INSISTED on tilting despite my efforts to straighten it out with dowels. And again my super niece helped with the detail decorations!

400 music note cookies for the HS band concert. I choose the assorted colors since it was a spring concert, and to avoid everyone having black tongues and teeth. I was thrilled when I attended the concert and each grade had on a different colored shirt, coincidentally, the same colors that I choose for my cookies! How handy is that?

This cake is a replica of a cake by PINKCAKEBOX. Totally not my idea!! I wish I had just a drop of her creativity. Anyhoo, done for a friend of ours; she saw the cake online and had to have it, only in different colors from the original. 6', 10", 12" cakes covered in BC and fondant. Fondant stars, drape and number. Pictures are just laminated and added to the cake. Oh, guess what, the "6" was leaning when I checked on it this morning, as I tried to fix it; it broke!!
I am a critique group member.
