For the Jewish new year - the cake is covered with sugarpaste.
The decoration on top is a combination of patchwork cutters and royal icing.
Tanks for looking.

These 10 & 6" rounds are iced in b'cream. Non edible strands of pearls & wired ribbon are used. Gumpaste stars are dry-dusted in silver & gold. Some are mounted to florist wire.

Inspired by "pippilotta", I made this for my daughter to take to her office. She lives and works in Staten Island, NY and I live in NH. Her co-workers have been hounding her to bring in one of my cakes. It is dark fudge w/buttercream icing and covered in fondant. Happy New Year!

A cake for New Years Eve (the person won a GC in a raffle and wanted it for the holiday even though I couldn't do it any sooner to the date because of my wrist surgery tomorrow, so a bit early)! Red velvet cake, buttercream icing, borders and dots, and gumpaste accents. Thanks elvis for design inspiration and alanahodgson for number idea!

This was my first attempt at a FBCT. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out even if it was a bit thick.

9" yellow cake with cookies 'n cream filling. Buttercream Dream icing with MMF accents. The # 32 is in place of midnight because that is how old the birthday boy will be! Don't try to make fondant accents when the humidity is 99%!!!!

Poor little cake, I couldn't think of a design idea! I had made the Mahjong tiles (unfortunately the mold is backwards, don't know if anyone'll notice) but I didn't know how I was gonna decorate the rest! I went through 3 different books before I landed on what I thought I wanted. Oh, I also accidentally stabbed the cake twice while I was smoothing, just one of those days!! 2 layer orange spice cake, tiles are candy clay with buttercream written on them.

Asked to make this for my church service. 1/2 sheet with half chocolate cake, half confetti. Buttercream frosting w/buttercream border & writing. Silver luster dust sprinkled on black shell border. Rainbow sprinkles on sides & numbers. Got the number idea from mbpbrighteyes; they are fondant painted in luster dust... made the mistake of making them last night, so they didn't have much time to dry. Live & learn!

NFSC & Antonia74 RI. Inspirations from many CC'ers - paulkjan; the fireworks and bakinccc; the party hats to name a few. Green balloon is a little blury, but the white spot is supposed to be the "glare" on the balloon. Party horns were hand cut. Thanks for looking and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This was made for Boss' family. The base is 9" hex, with buttercream and Satin Ice fondant. Top is also fondant. Each cake is 2 layers, marble (vanilla/choc swirled), buttercream fill. It was a quickie (what I call a 'throw-together' cake. I think I did pretty well. Feel free to comment. Thank you for looking.

Came up with this design just so I could use my new paisley shaped pans! Wanted to incorporate the year, champagne, confetti & the Times Square ball at Midnight somehow. It was fun to make & I like how it turned out. The cake was a new chocolate recipe covered in black buttercream (since it's preferred over fondant). The only inedible part of the cake is the styrofoam ball feature and the wires holding the stars.

I made these for a New Year's Eve party and they were a big hit! These are sugar cookies painted with a simple almond-flavored sugar glaze. I dipped them in granular sugar while still wet and then dabbed on the bubbles. I added the drunken maraschino mice for effect. Thanks to Michele25 for the inspiration!
