My 19-year-old nephew requested that I make a cake with a bowl of nails, to represent his "bad attitude." I made fondant nails, one for each year he's been alive. All decorations are fondant. The cake is white with huckleberry filling.

I had an odd request and hope I fulfilled it well! The customer wanted a nail and the happy birthday wish you see on the side. I understand that there is a private joke between the customer and the birthday boy, thus the request.....leaves me to wonder! Anyway, I was told the pair are quite the joksters so I decided to use grim holding a nail. It was fun doing this one!

This is a different version of a cake I have done before. The makeup bag and makeup was done using one of Debbie Brown's great books. The cake is buttercream with fondant accents. The makeup bag is covered in fondant. The makeup pieces are done in fondant.

A tool cake for my sons (one turning 4 and one turning 2) birthday party. Bottom layer is vegan chocolate, middle layer is dairy-free lemon and top layer is dairy-free yellow. All had buttercream filling and fondant covering and decorations. The tractors are wooden Plan toys. Thank you mcalhoun for the tool belt idea! There was also another cake which was gluten free chocolate decorated with a fondant hammer and screwdriver.

First time making a purse cake. I carved this out of an 11x15 sheet made from chocolate pound cake. Now that I've done one, I think the next one will be easier and cleaner looking. The plaque is gumpaste. The accessories are fondant. TFL!

This was done for my friend's 10-year-old daughter ... despite much coaxing and cajoling, they had their hearts set on putting actual nail polishes and lip glosses on the cake so their friends could take them home off of there. So, I lost that battle, and mounted them as the topper. Yellow butter cake with white chocolate-strawberry filling, MFF and gumpaste details. Thanks for your comments! :)

I made this for my dd's kid party - the girls made tiara crafts and had their nails painted. 2 - 8" rounds, gumpaste "handle", royal icing tiara with dragee "jewels", fondant plaque, lettering and pearls. I thought it needed a little something else, so I added the fondant flowers to match the ribbon around the board. I remember seeing several of these on Cake Central and thought it was a cute idea. The girls loved it (the parents too). :-)

I made this for a co-workers Son in law. He is a carpenter and she wanted to do something different then cake. This is a 12" round chocolate chip cookie. Buttercream frosting, iced in lime green because he has an Arctic Cat snowmobile and the hammer, nails and tape out of fondant. Those nails were tough. Thye look kinda pathetic now that I look at them but she loved the cookie.

This was made for a gentleman who portrays a Roman Soldier in our Easter Passion Play in our church each year. He has been doing this for many years and carves out about six weeks of his daily routine to do so. His fellow soldiers wanted to acknowledge his dedication with a cake. The crown of thorns and stakes are fashioned from gumpaste. The cake is buttercream sponged to resemble a slab of rock. (My husband didn't want the cake covered in fondant because, "We're just a bunch of guys who wouldn't get the whole fondant thing..." ) I had to laugh at that.

I have an order for a 13 year old's birthday this weekend. Mom is having a spa/make up party for her. These are the items I will put on and around the cake. I am waiting on Mom to tell me her daughter's name so I can add it to star. Still working out the cake details in my head, but at least these things are done. Thanks to everyone here with all their great spa cakes! Got lots of ideas looking at pictures. TFL!
