Hot Cocoa Mug, cake is covered in fondant (choco-pan), snowmen are fondant with buttercream accents, "cocoa" is chocolate frosting. Practice cake, next time I will go one more layer higher! Thank you SO MUCH to Jessmar for the inspiration and instructions!

Made for my mom and a friend of hers, who has the same name. We were invited over to celebrate their name day together, so I figured two cakes were in order. One is Garash Torte, the other is our staple flourless walnut with a combination of pastry cream and SMBC. I had left over fondant in those colors so my goal was to just use it up....

My first attempt at the 'hot chocolate mug'. Have to give credit to many people Saw many different styles here on CC and they are all adorable, thanks for the idea. It is a white cake with coconut filling, the 'hot chocolate' is pudding.

This is a 1/2 sports ball and 6" chocolate fudge cake filled with chocolate bc, iced with bc and covered in fondant. The "steam" and handle are gumpaste. I used the chocolate bc on top for the "hot chocolate". Gave to my son's pre-school teacher as a christmas present and she loved it! Thanks to all those who posted hot chocolate mugs...they were an inspiration!

I used an old Wilton pan (I think 1984 or so) that was given to me by a friend. It was a lot easier than I thought and everyone loved it.

This is one of my very favorite cakes so far! I got the idea from CC. Thank you to all that have done this cake! It was easier than it looks and didn't take very long. Everything is buttercream except for the handle and its fondant. I love this cake! I gave it to the daycare that I use to work at for their employee Christmas party.

Here's my attempt at a mug of hot cocoa. It's a 2-layer 6-inch french vanilla iced in buttercream, then covered with mmf. The cocoa is chocolate buttercream with marshmallows, and the border is mini marshmallows.

Critique group member: This is for my BIL's mother who is a huge coffee drinker. Let me say that I have worked with fondant, but never covered cake with it until this one. The mugs and sugar bowls are cake, covered in Satin Ice and painted. There are lots of imperfections (I know), but overall I think they're OK for a first go. The spoons are MMF, the cards are RKT covered in fondant. The coffee is piping gel. The "table" is a 10" vanilla with raspberry filling and bc icing. Color is ugly, but BIL chose it.

My MIL wanted this cake to take to a dinner with her friends. The mugs are WASC covered in MMF and painted. The sugar bowl is a cupcake...covered in MMF and painted. The "coffee" is piping gel and the color wasn't cooperating so it looks more like cocoa than coffee! The spoons are MMf painted with luster dust. I tried to make the "table" look like it had a cloth on it, but didn't want to use MMF (MIL's request), so this is what I came up with. I'm a CRITIQUE GROUP MEMBER...all comments are appreciated. TFL.

Another cake idea borrowed from CC. I had soooo many problems with this cake. I'm surprised I didn't dump it in the trash rather than finish it. In the end it was still pretty cute.

I originally posted this in the cake disasters board. The "froth" on the side is actually covering the side of the cake that fell off on the way to the party. Everyone raved about it, though. It's french avanilla cake, with strawberry filling. I did four 8-inch rounds, and the "coaster" is made of a torted 10-inch round. It's all BC and the logo is made of the pre-colored melting chocolates from Michaels.

this is my take on the hot cocoa mugs from this site. It's all mmf and the steam is 50/50 gumpaste/fondant. I knew it needed a long time to dry, but it was a last minute decision and only had about 2 hours -- hence it sinking and falling over! The bottom cake is an 8" gluten-free carrot cake, and the mug is 3 - 6" darn good chocolate cake with Kahlua cream filling ... yum!

Mocha cake with chocolate frosting, wrapped in hand painted fondant. Coffee is dark chocolate (I love how it stayed swirled) and steam is white chocolate. Thanks to everyone else who has done coffee mug cakes, I learned a lot just by looking at the pictures!

This was a 60th surprise birthday cake for my dad that was held at my home. I incorporated ideas from different cakes into a special cake just for dad as he loves his coffee and ice cream. Many of his friends were surprised that I made it for him. Everyone loved it and I did too. It is bc w/ fondant ring, handle and steam. Had a hard time with the handle staying even with toothpicks, but it still worked out.

Just like my other beer mug but out of fondant instead of buttercream. 4 6" rounds stacked with thick wooden dowel/pole in the middle. Girls's 21st birthday cake.
