I made this for a mini cake competition. Everything bar the cake board is made from fondant and edible. The mini cakes were marzipanned before wrapping with fondant. I had some helpful comments from the judges, namely the marzipan/fondant were too thick on the cakes.

This cake settled and I was so upset! I should have known especially on an extremely hot and humid day. I was upset until it arrived at the party and people went nuts over it! Nobody beleived it was a real cake! This cake is 5 8" round layers seperated by a cake board under the second layer from the top. This helped when cutting the cake. I had a single dowel through the whole cake and two additional dowels under the seperating cake board. I colored the fondant before covering the cake and I covered the cake just i would any other cake instead of wrapping it. I painted some details on the cake. The froth is buttercream. The handle is fondant. The cupcakes have custom wrappers and are also choc with choc buttercream. The cake board is covered in fondant and imprinted with a wood press/ I panited this with watered down color and it really gave a "bar" feel.

This is my first time entering the Threadcakes contest- I had a great time making it! Mostly mmf, the handle and the ghost on the side are 50/50 mmf and gumpaste. It seemed ironic that the Stay Puft marshmallow man's demise was being sculpted in mmf!

Chocolate cake with buttercream. The cake was leaning slightly so I tried to get the best angle for the "front". Other than that I'm pretty happy with how it turned out!

This is a cake I made for my brother's birthday. He brews beer and after looking at beautiful cakes on CC, I decided this was very fitting. It is 5 layers of 6" round cakes. I alternated devil's food with yellow cake. I filled it with chocolate pudding and iced/decorated it with butter cream. The handle is made out of fondant and gave me tons of problems. I finally stuck skewers in it at all angles and left most of the skewer out to attach it to the cake. Because it was so tall, it was hard to transport because it wanted to tip. By the time I got it to the party it had a terrible lean to it. I didn't have dowels so I had to improvise by sticking skewers through all the layers. It helped, but not as much as dowels would have. "Live and Learn!"

Lots of inspiration from everyone on this website. The Pour was made of sugar candy, very surprised how easy it was to work with. The handle was cereal treats wrapped in fondant. Foam was buttercream with #12 tip. Please see other photos to see finished handle. This pic had the first attempt, but was a good pic of the pour. I did both vanilla and chocolate cake with ganache filling.

I hate doing the same design twice, so when I had someone request another beer mug cake, I tweaked the design. Four 6" rounds, fondant strips for "wood", buttercream for foam, and fondant "pretzels".

book and mug are cake covered in fondant. Mug is hand painted. The cinnamon roll, pen and napkin are fondant. I made the icing for the cinnamon roll by melting some gum paste in water and then pouring it over. Thanks for the inspiration for the "accessories" aundron
