This was a cake I did in class... we had limited time, supplies & materials. We were supposed to practice marbeling, piping, use modeling chocolate, & make a plaque. The trees are modeling chocolate, it's covered in marbled fondant to make a starry night & the 2nd picture shows the pumpkin plaque made of gumpaste...

This rose is made out of modeling chocolate & lightly dusted with a pink luster dust. I'm SO happy I took a picture in class... on the way home it melted, then I dropped it! But the great thing about modeling chocolate is that you can ball it up & make a new one!

This cake was for a dear friend who got married on Nov 7th and had a "haunted" theme. She did a great job with homemade decorations and setting a mood. She gave me free rain to do what I wanted and the cake was a great accent to her wedding. I used gingerbread for the chapel with cake underneath. Fondant, gumpaste and modeling chocolate were used for the decorations. The bride and groom I bought for them to keep... not edible!

Veggietales cake I made for my youngest daughter's 4th birthday october 2009.
2 teirs, (16" and 12" ) pound cake with strawberry buttercream.
I made 11 veggie tales charecters ranging from 2" (smallest) to 14" biggest -they were all to scale-
I made jimmy & jerry gord, mr. Lunt, Bob the tomato, Larry the cucumber, Madame Blueberry, Jr. Asparagus, Pa grape, Lauren carrot, and the french peas ( there are 2 ).. all the charecters were made out of cereal treat ( mixed to the standard rice crispies recipe and sculpted) and modeling chocolate, and fondant ...and some have gumpaste and/or wire details ( such as madame blueberries hat with all the flowers and the butterfly next to her, and my lunt, jr. asparagus's hats, and pa grape's glasses..) except for those wires, and a few wooden dowels the cake was 100% edible.

Although a Christmas party, they really didn't want a typical Christmas theme. I used Roland's French vanilla sour cream cake, (episode 8) filled with raspberry, chocolate and buttercream. MFF covered over a buttercream crumb coat and the figures were made of modeling chocolate, (for the deer), and almond bark candy clay for the trees and rabbits. The pond is melted Jolly Ranchers. (Darn if it didn't look like an algae filled pond!, but oh well...) I found the chocolate easier to carve. The almond bark tended to melt under my fingers, so the rabbits ended up a little rougher since I had to hurry.
All in all, it was a very fun project. They said it tasted good and that's what counts.
Thanks for looking.

Similar to my first, but I now have a little more experience under my belt. Carved modeling chocolate with antlers of bent floral wire wrapped with brown floral tape. I have difficulty with making them symmetrical. I ended up with 2 left antlers and had to re-bend. Thanks for looking.

Cake is covered in fondant. "leaves" are supported by a thin wire and glued on with melted wilton candy (chocolate) melts all partys are edible ecept the wire and a few dowels and the cake board type stuff.

This cake was done for my daughter's respite nurse ; (my 4 yr old has special needs, and she has 2 nurses that come during the week to help out) anyhow, the cake was suppossed to closely resemble a ceramic christmas figurine that belonged to the person I made this for.

with the exception of a few dowels, the cake is entirely edible.
it is a 4 layer cake ( four 12 x 12 ) carrot cake with cream cheese buttercream.
this cake was then covered in fondarific buttercream fondant. the swags were heavy and required melted chocolate to use as glue.

This is a 28 inch tall cyclops made from rice krispy treats and modeling chocolate. It is my first attempt with sculpting. This guy is for my son's 8th birthday and will be standing over an eyeball cake (see photos on this site). I think it came out pretty well, but I would love your comments. I was surprised how easy the chocolate was to make, color and use. Thanks.

I made this cake for my mother's 58th birthday after she saw and fell in love with CakesUnleashed's absolutely gorgeous Celestial Moon Cake. Having neither the incredible skill nor the materials used the the original, I gave it my best shot and it made my mom smile. :-)
The moon is candy clay over mmf, the stars are candy clay, the buttercream was colored with wilton violet with added blue, and the moon faces was colored with petal dust and shimmer dust. Thanks for looking!

8" and 6" tiers iced in buttercream, sitting on an 8" plastic cake plate. I covered the cake plate in modeling chocolate and affixed it to the jumbo martini glass with a little corn syrup. Olives on top are RTR fondant on wooden party picks, however all other decorations are modeling chocolate, using colored Wilton candy melts.

This was a cake I made for my neighbor's birthday last week. I was anxious to try making some fun flowers so this was my excuse to play. The cake was white chocolate with swiss meringue buttercream (the cake was too fluffy for fondant). The flowers were made out of modeling chocolate with about 30% pre-made gumpaste added. I was going for a cabbage-style rose, magnolia and peony. They sort of resemble that. Anyway it was fun and a learning experience :)
