This cake was three 9" layers, covered in buttercream with fondant accents. The rabbit matched the invitation. Rabbit was 1/2 styrofoam ball for body, and styrofoam ball for head covered in fondant. Wand was a dowel rod covered in fondant. I torted the top layer and cut out a 6 inch circle from one of the layers so that the rabbit looked like he was sitting somewhat inside the hat, therefore "popping out." This was a fun cake to do. Thank you to all the inspiraiton here at CC!! TFL!

4/17/11 chocolate fudge cake torted & filled with vanilla buttercream. Sides iced in chocolate fudge icing. A real Magic the Gathering card was scanned from a comic book and modified in Photoshop by Chad to include the birthday message and holding a birthday cake (covering a rather gruesome skull in the monsters hand). It was printed on frosting and applied to the top layer. Three stashes of candy treasure were hidden in the layers.

This was such a fun cake to make! I think I should have left the white magician's glove off the board though - looks too much like a Michael Jackson decoration.

This cake was a huge hit. The cake and bunny were made out of marshmallow fondant while the stars coming out of the cake were made out of gum paste. The magician that came to the party said that this was the best magician cake he has ever seen.

My son loves the Magic Treehouse books, so it was a no brainer what birthday cake to make for him. The tree trunk is a vase covered in fondant, a quarter sheet cake on top of that, with RKT around it to give it a tree shape. Leaves are fondant using a plunger cutter, picture is non-edible copy, rungs on the rope ladder are fondant, threaded through twine. Thanks for looking! For more on the cake you can see my blog post at www.cantstopbaking.blogspot.com.

For a friend's daughter who turns 18 today and graduates high school this week too. She is a big Harry Potter fan. Her mom sent me this pic http://www.flickr.com/photos/12118804@N02/2846419997/ and wanted something like that for the cake.

This was for a family friend who loves Harry Potter and fantasy. He also loves his mischevious little cat which is why he made it onto the cake as well. Red velvet cake with cream cheese frosting covered in MMF. Hat is made of RKT covered with Wilton fondant. Glasses and cat are Wilton fondant and tylose powder. I used the cake cricut to cut out the letters for the happy birthday. Inspiration for the hat was from a Debbie Brown book.

I made this cake for the summer reading program at the local library. Their theme was Reading under the Big Top. Since they are young children, I decided to go pretty literal. The sub-themes were flea circus, juggling, roping and magicians. I think I covered it pretty well. All cake except for the pins and bunny ears which are RKT.
