This cake was for an adult birthday. Magic has been a long time hobby. The cake is 3 layer 6" white cake covered with chocolate Satin Ice fondant. The Brim had to dry for over a week and still had to be supported by wooden dowels inserted under the brim through the cake to the other side. The bunny was made from Wilton's small 3D bear cake pan. The ears are actually card board covered with icing!

I made this castle cupcake cake for my third grade class. They had completed the book, Knight at Dawn, and this is the celebration cake. It is marbled sour cream cupcakes with vanilla buttercream. I drew the picture on the cake and decorated it using my star tip. Any comments would be appreciated.

For a friend's mom who loves HP...I wanted to make something that wasn't too childish, and I also love owls and wanted to try my hand at rice krispie treat sculpting, so this is what I came up with. The owl, Hedwig is RKT covered in fondant, cake iced in BC. Snitch, wand, and glasses all fondant. Thanks for looking :)

Rabbit was RKT hat was 3 oval layers stacked and trimmed. To make brim I uses stiffened fondant and allowed to dry on actual top hat to form curve. Was not happy with the rabbit and feel I could have done better given more time.

My son turned 5 and decided he wanted to have a Disney Fantasia Themed birthday party. He was adamant that all of the songs in Fantasia had to be represented so this is what I came up with. The cake is white cake that is 4 layers tall frosted in buttercream. Each panel was colored using the colored spray food colorings. The film strip borders were done in black fondant. The images on each panel were done in colorflow & then the whole cake was on a lazy susan so that all sides could be viewed. The sorcerer's hat on top was sculpted out of cereal treats & then iced in blue buttercream. The decorations (moon, stars, & ears) were gumpaste & fondant. The tricky part was the broomstick. My husband cut a 1" dowel and screwed it on to two wooden circles. I covered the circles in blue marbled fondant and then covered the dowel in brown fondant. The rest of the broomstick was done with sculpted cereal treats, fondant, & then piping gel for the water. It was a lot of work but turn out better than I expected!!!

This is the fourth cake I made for my class this year. It is a chocolate sour cream cake with vanilla buttercream. It is based on the fourth book of the Magic Tree House Series - Pirates Past Noon. I promised my children I would create a cake for every Magic Tree House book they read. Now we are reading the fifth book. I would like to thank all of the wonderfully creative people for the inspiration for this cake. Any comments would be appreciated.

I made this cake for my third grade students. My students finished the third Magic Treehouse book - Mummies in the Morning. It is a vanilla cake with vanilla flavored buttercream. I thought the mummy would be the most appropriate picture to put on the cake. Any comments would be appreciated.

Magician's table with hat, cards, and wand for a Magic Show Birthday Party...

The hat is three layers of cake covered in fondant. The brim is a fondant round dried on a saucer. The ears were cut with a pointed leaf cutter and then rolled out into the longer shape. I cut floral wire the length of each ear plus the length of the hat. Place the wire along the edge of the ear and fold it over to glue it in place. When dry slide them into place on the hat.

Chocolate cake never looked quite so magically desperate! The makings of a love potion are in the pot and the potion is brewing. When wishing for love our innocent love seeker finds that everything is edible! Fondant voodoo doll, fondant candy box with a milk chocolate lid (maybe a bite taken from one of the chocolates inside?) and a sample of the strangely kool-aid tasting brew sits to the right of the cauldron. In the chocolate cake cauldron there is a fondant love note, rose and frog prince as well as a filled chocolate. In person most everything sparkles with magical pearl dust. For those of us without sweethearts this cake just might be the answer to valentine wishes.

Birthday cake for a future magician! Had to adjust the lighting on the picture but the true colors of this cake are: turquoise buttercream on the bottom 10" tier with shiny red & gold fondant stars. Top 6" tier is black buttercream with shiny gold letters. Wand, ears and playing cards are fondant. The birthday boy was turning 3 so that is the reason the cards are the #3.

I made this cake for my son's 5th birthday. It turned out really well considering I'm fairly new at this. I couldn't find any pictures of a cake I liked on the internet so I modeled it after a picture in a book. My son loved it!
