12"10"8"6" topsy turvey cake in pale pink and lemon fondant painted in lustre and alcohol, with fondant details and RI pipping of scrolled hearts. gumpaste roses in shades of lemon dusted with pink lustre i have done this cake before but normall has just a couple of big rolled ribbon roses and leaves but the couple wanted in less 'funky' and more romantic so we added the rose cascade (didn't anticipate how difficault placing a rose cascade on a topsy would be given the different angles etc!!) TFL!!!

My first attempt at a topsy turvey cake, my buttercream had so many air bubbles! ugh! Bottom tier chocolate cake top tier confetti cake frosted in vanilla butter cream and decorated in mmf cutouts. should I have trimed the cake to be tapered from top to base on each tier? I would appreciate any feedback you may have. TFL!

This was my first topsy turvy cake. Many cakes inspired my design but particularly Tonedna's. I did this for a cake demo and wanted to exhibit some easier techniques that beginners could replicate. I enjoyed this and look forward to others.

This mad hatter cake was made by my partner Becca and I for a couple that have been married 25 years. Their children called us and told us to bring sumthing to the table. It was a WASC Cake Filled With a White Choc. Rasp. Moose.

This was for my daughters 13th birthday! She wanted a MadHatter Tea Party! Everything is covered in Satin Ice. The tea cups are not cake - My MIL bought a porcelain tea set to 'help' me out. So I had to use it.. =) This was the first 'topsy turvy' cake that I've made and I think it came out pretty well! No one could believe that it was the cake. I love that reaction! Thank you for looking!

It's a topsy turvy cake. I really had a hard time with the middle layer. When I sculpted the middle layer it just didn't sit right. Then after icing it, you can still see the bumps through the fondant. Bailey's mom was still pleased with the cake.

Topsy Turvy cake white bottom chocolate middle rice crispy top.
I made this for one of my best friends baby shower and will never make another! Ok maybe I will, but for a lot of money. Between kids and bad recipes it was killer! But got a few new clients from it!

This was my first "topsy turvey" cake. Many, many thanks go to BKeith who wrote an article on "How to Build a Whimsical Cake" - it was my bible as I made this! I made it for my nephew's 21st birthday. The cake was red velvet filled with white chocolate buttercream. All of the decorations were made out of royal icing floodwork. Except for the chocolate coins - they were real. He works at a bank and I thought they would be fun!

This cake was for my daughters 1st, and niece's 5th birthday party. The Cheshire cat tea pot is a dummy cake....used fondant to cover, and fondant/gumpaste for the handle/spout. The mad hatter's hat cake is four 6" and three 8" cakes stacked and carved...the brim is fondant/gumpaste. The bottom tier is the Queen of Hearts cake...covered in SMBC with fondant accents...the card man, paint brush and paint can are gumpaste/fondant, then painted with gel dye. The writing says "A very merry unbirthday to you!"
