This cake was inspired by Andrea Sweet Cakes. She is an amazing talent and I wish I had half of her creativity. My first Topsy Turvey Cake, still needs a lot of work. A good start. The birthday girl was very happy. This was complemented by cookies, cupcakes and cake pops.

I made this for the Sacred Heart Players Willy Wonka Cast Party. All decorations are replicas of the props and sets that were built for the play. It's a 3 tier crooked cake covered in fondant, and buttercream, fondant, gumpaste, and candy were used to decorate.

My son turned three this year and I was puzzled with what theme to use for his cake! He just kept on asking about "Birthday Cake" and couldn't make up his mind himself so I decided to make a cake that resembles the top tier of my "Familiar Red Monster from a Street" lol cake and theme it around whimsical things I consider to be just yummy and classic for cakes and deliciousness.

I used a FABULOUS recipe from The Cake Bible by Rose Levy Beranbaum called Sour Cream Butter Cake, and after all this time making dozens of cakes I'd have to say this is the holy grail moment, the cake I will always make and never look for another to try when it comes to yellow cakes. It was easy to torte (I used four torted layers) baked up on time and perfectly without over-browning or sinking/shrinking, and most wonderfully of all, tasted like a dream. It uses all egg yolks and Rose's special mixing method to create it's exceptionally soft and tender crumb. I even carved the sides so they were perfectly level and even and didn't have a problem crumb coating it. Just a DREAM to work with guys. I think every serious baker should own this book and all of Rose's books for that matter. Go out and get "The Cake Bible" and you'll never be the same. I sprinkled the torted layers top and bottoms with homemade rum syrup too for freshness/moisture retention. The flavours married up beautifully!

So, I used milk chocolate ganache for this cake, made it out of European chocolate (Galaxy Bars) since I am currently overseas. It soaked into the layers a bit because I didn't chill it before assembling (was in a hurry as usual) but it didn't matter because it was out of this world incredible. I also used Indydebi's buttercream frosting recipe, with the addition of Princess Cake and Cookie Emulsion/Extract for the Frosting and a smaller less noticeable amount for the fondant (Rhonda's Ultimate MMF Recipe).

Everything is fondant and handmade except for the toothpicks I used as sticks for the "lollipops" and the "cherry" stem which was a toothpick painted green with food colouring. I wanted to make a fondant stem but once again, no time for drying ;) What a fun cake!

Thanks for looking and sharing in my fun! Happy Birthday Baby!

A rich chocolate cake decorated in the shape of a mini car with lollipops decorated as the birthday girl who was 70 and her 7 children and pet dog. My first unusually shaped cake and a big challenge but they were delighted with how it turned out.

This is a cake for my 11 years old colorful daughter Marianne. She showed me some cake that she like here on CC and that is what I came out with. She really loved her cake. This is butterpecan cake with buttercream icing covered with fondant. Because she loves big lollipop, I made some for her in fondant.

I made this for my son's 2nd birthday. Everything is done in fondant including suckers. I don't love how it turned out(new fondant recipe) but he loved it! Not the best photo- sorry! I had to do a little photoshop on the cupcake where my son decided he couldn't wait and poked it.

Buttercream cakes decorated in cut-out decorations of fondant. The ferris wheel, "7" flag, ticket booth, and stars (on the skewers) are gum paste shapes that hardened and were covered with colorful fondant decor. The balloons on the top are store-bought plastic. The poles on the sides and on top are dowels striped with fondant. The triangle flages are fondant diamonds folded over dental floss and attached to the dowels.

I created this cake for my daughter's 6th birthday! I had intended to roll out various colors of fondant and then twist them together, and then wrap them into the circle shape. However, that totally didn't work! Nothing would stick together and the fondant began breaking! So, with an hour left to the party, I squished everything together and it was a tie-die lollipop! :) My daughter still loved it and it was yummy!! To see how it's built, check out my blog.

My customer gave me a picture to copy, I believe it belongs to Coco Paloma Desserts. This is pretty much just like it, with only a few variations. Coco P did SUCH a better job than I did!!!!! Theirs was perfect....hopefully mine will please the customer good enough! I just threw some of the loose candy on there for the photo, will try to arrange it a tad better when I set it up, have to travel with the very top boxes separate.

I don't yet have a final pic of this cake. The mom added large lollipops after I delievered it. I have added a picture of my cake, next to a pic of the inspiration cake. This was my first attempt at a topsy turvy and I am pleased with how it turned out and that it wasn't terribly difficult.

The mother of a little girl had a picture of a cake she found online (http://cherylshuen.com/blog/blog4.php?s=pet+shop&sentence=AND&submit=Search) that her daughter wanted. Using that photo as inspiration, I changed and tweaked the design to something a little different but similar. Balloons are plastic store-bought decorations. The balls at the border base are gum balls. Cake is covered in buttercream. The top lollipop, ice cream, and all butterflies are gum paste, while all the other decor is marshmallow fondant. The "Little Pet Shop" figurines/accessories are toys provided by the mother.
