My son's 2 year old birthday cake (note the tray where he has already been taste testing the cake!). Made in 10" Wilton pan, Lemon icing, and Crayola food coloring mixed for the other colors. Tootsie Rolls shaped for the eyes and whiskers, and colored sugar for the cheeks.

Cake was a hit! Both delicious and got lots of lion 'growls' from my son. :)

My daughters 2nd birthday was yesterday, we had a bit circus party. I had a lot of fun doing this cake and am very happy with how it turned out. It took a very long time but it was worth it. I will post pics of the other sides (other animals) in my folder.

Thanks to sugar creations for the design idea and to mccorda for instructions on making popcorn.

critique group member: This is a 9" chocolate cake covered in chocolate buttercream that I made for my sister's boyfriend. He is flying in for the game and I thought it would be fitting to have a Lions vs. Cowboys game cake. Sadly, this is probably the only way the lions will be on top of the Cowboys :( The logos and border are fondant.

Lion cake I made for my oldest son who loves them. First animal cake I've ever made. I used the Wilton sunflower pan for the mane. Face was made out of fondant. It was a moist yellow cake with chocolate cream cheese filling. Son was thrilled.

These were made to match a baby shower invitation that had jungle animals on it. I used off-the-shelf metal cookie cutters but had to squish them a little to get the right shapes. Roll-out cookies with royal icing decorations.

It was difficult to make a 2D "Baby Einstein" lion drawing into a 3D cake but I tried. Should have made the royal icing "glue" brown before using, I have some white showing here and there....hopefully she will be satisfied enough. Internal stand supporting the head...mane is mostly pieces dried ahead of time, some fresh fondant as well. Blocks and nose RKT.

I used Wilton's Noah's Ark pan and got the jungle theme idea from a Wilton's Yearbook. It was for a one year old's birthday so I also made cupcakes for the other kids and a small cake for the birthday girl to enjoy.

For sister-in-law's wedding which was out of town, I decided to assemble and decorate there. Took everything to in-laws the night before going to the hotel & to my surprise the next moring I found that my father-in-law ate the entire bowl of frosting, The all butter, italian buttercream kind. Thankfully I had enough in the bag to pull off this border since there wasn't a mixer in site to make more. Walnut-carmel cake so I was able to cover with walnuts. At least it tasted good!! Logo is white choco..

Another cake inspired by the other safari cakes on this website. The birthday boy loved it! Oh and I didn't place the animals in the cake, I couldn't deliver it so I gave them instructions but they didn't listen lol.

i had a time with this cake, lemme tell you lol! i live in charleston, sc and the roads downtown are still the tiny cobblestone roads from centuries ago... long story short, i open up the back of the tahoe and the 3rd tier is leaning back like it's trying to get some sun or something. i have absolutely no idea what happened (it was very well supported with dowels throughout and even a second cake board b/w the 3rd and 4th layers)! i had to try to stand it up again w/ dowels in the back and pray! tfl lol
