6" cakes 3 layers, I wanted the height but not the volume.Buttercream, and fondant on rumcake. Tiara made from royal icing thanks to a template here on CC. Chocolate letters with pink sugar sprinkles. I was a little dissapointed with the isomalt diamonds that I ordered online, not too shiny so I used disco color edible glitter.

I love when customers come up with new ideas. A friend asked me to make his daughter's 1st birthday cake... He said, "I don't know if you can do this but we were thinking maybe having individual cakes spelling out our daughter's name, with like, a different pattern on each cake." Me, "NO PROBLEM! I THINK I CAN DO THAT." And it turned out even better than I thought it would. All fondant and carved from (2) 9x13" cakes. Thanks for looking!

Made this cake for my DH for an early V -day gift (he's been away and is coming home in a couple of days!) When we started dating over 21 yrs ago (before cell phones), I used to stop by his place and if he wasn't home, I'd write him a letter just like this. I'd put on lots of lipstick, seal it with a kiss and slide it under the door. I would also spray a bit of my perfume on it -unable to duplicate that part in a cake, however. Cake is red velvet with dreamy creamy white chocolate frosting, covered in MMF (his fave) with an edible image of my lips.

This was a the cake I did at the 2010 AZ Cake Show's Live Cake Challenge. The theme they gave us was "Love" and we had 2 1/2 hours. We were able to bring 1/3 of the decorations made and an unfrosted cake along with our supplies. I decided on a WWII era cake. This was a hat box, filled with old letters/envelopes, some gloves, and pearls. The letter was actually written by my husband as if he were a soldier the day after D-day. There was also another envelope, wedding bands, and a monogramed handkerchief. It was so much fun and I actually won the contest. TFL!

This is a white cake (with sprinkles for a little surprise) covered with Fluffy Meringue Icing (with a kind of marshmallow texture) and decorations in a buttercream frosting. The green border is made up of the letters: k, n, n, and e because the baby shower were for two women with those initials. The side has little dots and hearts.

I wanted to try making striped fondant for the letters, but they were a bit fragile so I couldn't stand the letters upright. They were a bit hard to see laying on the cupcakes :(

Just an idea of those of you who hate free writing letters on a cake. I printed out a font I wanted to copy and laid wax paper over it. I outlined the letter shape with one color of royal icing (thicker consistency) then filled it in with thinner white royal. Now I can peel and stick them on the cake and not have to worry about my terrible handwriting on the cake LOL.

Confetti swirl cake filled, frosted, and decorated with CC frosting. The letters are cake as well. This was made for my son who had just learned how to read! Just a side note...I learned how to make 3D cakes from my mother, who taught me to freeze the filled cake and then carve it using an electric carving knife. I have found that method doesn't work as well when doing more detailed designs. Knowing what I know now, I use the electric carving knife only half of the time, and I DO NOT freeze my cakes anymore. Mostly because it takes too much time....and I just don't have the freezer space. :)

I did this as a raffle cake for a cake contest, that i helped host. The theme of the contest was Military Family and Life, so where I am stationed I have noticed a lot of woman who get pregnant and have their little ones while their husbands are deployed. I wanted to tie that into my cake design. TFL! CSM!

WASC cake in shape of mushroom. All decorations either fondant or gumpaste. Hookah was painted with gold luster dust. I really had a great time making all the details for this cake; I especially liked making the smoked letters. This was my very favorite scene from the movie.
