I don't like the way this turned out. I got the idea from a couple of cakes in the gallery. Anyway, buttercream with colorflow decorations...oh and a fondant baby and blanky.

This is a huge carrot cake with cream cheese icing. I made 2 9-inch layers and torted, filled with cream cheese icing and decorated with the same.
Thanks so much to Charman for the inspiration. Her cake is much prettier, but I loved the idea and wanted to give it a try. It was a lot of fun.

I used Whipped Cream Buttercream for everything except that I bought pre-made sugar ladybugs. Devil's Food DH mix for the cakes.

This cake was made for my niece's birthday. It was a coconut cream cake with coconut buttercream frosting. This cake is fun to make, but your hands will be tired from all the starring.

This was made by my 9 year old with some help from her 12 year old friend. They did the entire project, even making and coloring the icing.

Winnie the Pooh baby shower cake. The pooh was made from the small bear pan. The tree is 4 sandwich cookies and a ball of rice krispie treats and then covered in buttercream on the trunk and leaves. The ladybugs and bees are from royal icing, which is the first time I have done that. One cake is carrot and the other vanilla w/ strawberries and pudding. It says " A New Hunny To Love" which I got from someones cake on here (thanks :).

This is the little girl from my ladybug cake. Cake is two layers (lemon and strawberry) with a pineapple filling. It's covered in buttercream (lemon flavored). The ladybugs and the little girl are my first attempts at fondant figures...made out of mmf. It was delicious.

I made this for a co-worker who's daughter is 2 today. She loves bugs!! I tried to make it as girly as possible. :0)

It's carrot cake with the crusting cream cheese icing recipe from this site. I put 2 loaf pans end to end and used a scrap hunk for the top part of the log sticking up. The bugs and flowers are made of gum paste (my first time playing with this) and everything is edible except for the bee stingers and the butterfly antennae.

Thanks for looking!

This is my first and only animal cake so far. My niece loves ladybugs so I made this for her. I used a mixing bowl to bake the cake in. I used devil's food cake and filled it with chocolate mousse, covered it with fondant. I used pipecleaners for the antenna.

I did this cake for my Niece. I used the Wilton #2 pan and I added the Ladybug accents from the napkin and plates. I got my icing colors too dark and the bugs don't match. I'll know the next time to be more careful!

This is a sneak peek! I am not sure if this is exactly how I'll lay it out..but this is the general idea...still working on it. See the little spidey with the party hat and their little leaf plates and flower spoons? And do you see the little floral b-day cake with candles?? Isn't it fun!? I can't wait to finish...there will be a little ladder and possibly a leaf swing...??? Check back tomorrow...it's due tomorrow eve...

i had an unusual request. a last minute customer had a request for a 'simple' cake. he didn't care what it was really as long as there was a blonde girl, by a stream, with a shooting star, with cardinals and ladybugs. Hmmm, not very specific!

I made this cake for a babies 1st b-day. The daisies are royal icing, one of my first attempts with the reverse shell border. The cake is a yellow/butter cake and is 12" and the smash cake is a 6" round cut on the sides.

I decided to design this cake around her dress. The skirt was red with white dots and the lady bug on the top had jewels on the wings. On the bottom of the dress there was a fine triming of the black and white gingham ribbon. I embelished it a little more and added the vines to the second layer to give it some personality. I was pretty happy with it, but think it would have gone better with an easier to work with frosting.

I made this cake for a coworker who was leaving for a new job. She loves ladybugs.

The top layer is a 4" round and the bottom is a 6" round. Double chocolate fudge cake iced in buttercream and covered in fondant. All of the decor is fondant. I used luster dust to paint the ladybugs, flowers and trim.

The customer just wanted the baby einstein characters around a tiered cake (with matching cupcakes). Funfetti 10, 8, 3" layers....the 3" was the 'smash' cake for the birthday girl. Buttercream icing with colorflow and gumpaste accents. I'll upload pics of the sides as well so you can see all the colorflow pieces....it was my first try at colorflow and I had some cracking issue, but overall, I love this technique! Thanks for looking!

I made this cake a week early by accident. Wasn't paying attention to the calendar. This is another cake for the outreach program our church participates in to help homeless families with kids who are having birthdays. I love doing these cakes! This one is for a little girl's first birthday. French vanilla cake, all BC.

This one was the most fun to do! It turned out better than I expected. The ladybug idea is from the "Celebrate! with Fondant" Wilton book. It was a big cake.

Took the picture before I fixed the color on the cheeks. The entire top is a FBCT that gave me a heck of a time. Somehow I miscalculated the size and ended up with the transfer being much larger than the cake. Had to trim off the edges, so I lost a lot of the picture. The colors smeared. It was a mess! This came from an illustration in one of my daughters' story books.

Six inch round ladybug cake. I made one simular a few weeks ago but I did not carve the sides off of this cake. And I also did smooth icing on this instead of the star tip.
