My first wedding cake order......I can breath now!!! Didn't realise how stressful it could get. The roses are all sugarpaste and took quite a while to make. I managed to break a few when I was putting the cake together!!!! I was really happy with the end result, so was the customer. Vanilla sponge with vanilla buttercream cake.

This cake is for a 90-year-old lady who still lives on her own, fixes herself a meal every night, and works in her garden every day. Customer just said "she is a lovely lady in every way -- make a cake to reflect that." I hope this is worthy of her life celebration. Chocolate cake, almond buttercream icing, ivory fondant, fondant flowers, pearls, etc. An 8" and 6" stacked.

For my aunt. This is cream cheese icing on hummingbird cake. My other aunt placed the roses and baby's breath. I'm not good at that. I got a little bulged in the layer on the drive to the wedding site.

Fondant Bow atop all buttercream. Dang, that candlelight champagne color is so hard to match... good thing the reception hall was dark!

This is a dummy cake I made for a bridal show. It drew a great deal of attention! I was actually a little surprised. The top tier is 1 Corinthians, 13:4-8 (Love is patient...) the middle & bottom tier are the lyrics to the song DH and I danced to for our first dance at our wedding 7 1/2 years ago.

This is a cake that the bride wanted to be different. All three tiers are french vanilla with the different colored buttercream icing and roses. I added little pearl accents to make it shine a little more even though I don't think you can see them in the picture. I hope she likes it.

This cake was the wedding cake for one of our Elementary teachers. She and her fiance are both widowers, and didn't want anything extravagant. She requested a single tier cake in ivory, with red roses. It is a 14 inch round to feed 75.

Ivory buttercream with fondant decorations. (It isn't yellow, that's just my camera). Bottom tier is 12" and top tier is 8". The topper is a 5" styrofoam ball covered with fondant and then fondant flowers were attached with royal icing.

This is just a round covered in White chocolate MMF. I read some of the recent posts about candy clay and wanted to try, so this is a mix of 1/2 candy clay to 1/2 mmf. Really liked the flavor & consistency!

I decided to make a few of these to go on my final cake for the gumpaste/fondant class (adding my personal touch) and wanted a few rosebuds. This is the second time I have attemped these (using the gumpaste flower kit purchased last year) and was very pleased this time with the results.

Design based on a cake that Jennifer posted last fall -- Jen's version was in pink -- The bride wanted to go with Navy Blue and Ivory -- I was worried about the color being too dark, but it turned out fine.

The topper was supposed to have been gumpaste -- but between waiting till the last minute and a rainy humid day -- chose to go with fresh -- color is a little off for the flowers -- but since this is a gift cake, I have a little room to work

Vanilla & Dark Chocolate cupcakes iced with a swirl of ivroy buttercream & large ivory buttercream roses. Simple, but I loved the display.

(One thing I do wish is that they could have given me a larger table....I hate the look of the tower's corners going off each side. Grrrrr! )

I wasn't quite sure which category to place this under - it is really a birthday cake, but I would definately use it as a wedding cake design as well. I, in fact, got the idea from a wedding cake picture in the book Spectacular Cakes. I made it as a surprise for a friend's birthday today. White cake with White Chocolate Almond Buttercream.

4in round white almond sour cream cake (from scratch), filled with almond buttercream. Covered with fondant and decorated with fondant roses and ribbon and buttercream necklace piping. All painted with ivory lustre dust, roses and bow middle sprinkled with ivory hologram disco glitter. Made as a gift for my employer's birthday. I don't know what's wrong with my camera lately - it just doesn't seem to take anything in focus anymore - grrrr!

I did this along with another cake this past weekend. My camera was not around so I couldn't take a pic. Unfortunately someone poked the W and cracked it...grrr. It was quick and easy but I thought it turned out ok. Any and all constructive criticism and comments are very much welcome!
