Ultimate Butter Cake Recipe by Sarah Phillips (Baking 9-1-1). Frosting is Choc. Almond BC by LisaMS of CC (my inspiration for this cake). This would have been my 1st paid cake, but I just didn't feel comfortable charging when I have so little experience. The deer outline actually came about by mistake! I was trying to acheive something different with the outline; I discovered I couldn't when the chocolate came off my paper & stayed on the cake! I just left it there! LOL!!

This cake was made for two boys celebrating their birthdays. It was very time consuming but I enjoyed making it. They wanted camo and hunting theme. I added a few extras and they were so excited when they saw it.

Made for my cousin. First time working with a whippped frosting--used Wilton's whipped. He wanted exactly what was pictured at the store although I made a few modifications based on inspiration from this site. His mom was able to buy the props from the store without buying the cake. I got $10 but probably didn't make anything off of it in the end since I had to invest in so many things since I don't have that much "gear" yet.

It's a single layer yellow cake with buttercream icing. I used brown sugar for the sand around the lake. This was before we wrote "Happy Birthday" on it in brown icing.

I just did this cake for my son's kindergarten teacher. She said her son was turning 22, worked for the railroad and liked hunting and this is what I came up with. It's covered in CBC, and the train and hunter are mmf and gum paste mixed.

This is the Groom's cake for the largest wedding I have done to date...he is an avid deer hunter. When I suggested this saying I was unsure if she would be insulted or laugh... she LOVED the idea!! YAY for humor! I left the sides rough to make it look more rugged.

This is a hunting themed birthday cake that I made. The sides of the cake are mmf. I marbled it together to make it look like camo. The tent was actually something I made with cardboard and dowel rods and then covered with the same fondant. The deer and leaves are also made of fondant and the trees are florist wire covered with brown florist tape. It sure was alot of fun making this cake and everyone really enjoyed it.

I made this cake for my grandpa's 80th birthday party. The bottom is vanilla cake, middle tier is chocolate, and top is vanilla. He loves hunting and fishing. The cabin on top is a replica of their cabin on the lake. It turned out just like it! He loved it.

This cake was made for a wedding shower believe it or not. It was a couple's shower and the theme was camo but future MIL wanted a snake because that was outdoorsy and hunting to her. The camo cake is 11X15 and the shake was sculpted out of an 8" and a 6" cake. The head was rice krispie treat and mini M&M's for the eyes.

Made for son who does not like cake so made to fit on top of cherry pie. Made out of fondant and gumpaste. Deer stand legs and ladder are made from skewers. DH thinks the deer is on steriods, but wanted to make sure he would stand on his own. Look for the other animals, rabbit, squirrel and possum.

I don't know ONE thing about hunting but had someone request this cake; actually for a 10 year old girl who wanted this cake more then anything. I looked up what a deer rack looks like and this is what I came up with. Afterward my hubby said it would have been good if I would have had 10 deer points instead of the 8 I had since she was going to be 10! Didn't know anything about points either. Oh well, bc covered yellow cake. Chocolate clay horns.

This was my first camo cake and my second FBCT. My mom drew the picture of the buck for me, but it's nose kinda got smooshed. This was for my Grandpa's 65th birthday. He loved it, and didn't want to cut into it!

OK I now know why all the pictures of the "deer mounted heads" were all laying down lol My dad was very much into deer. So I looked for anything that included deer. I got this idea from CC and thought hmmm I should try that. HAHA well like I said I now know why they were laying down. I started out with great intentions of having this head stand. But alas the gum paste ears were too heavy so I had to lay him down. I will try it again someday. I will post a picture of finished head

This cake was done for a gentleman and his son for their birthdays. They love to hunt, camp and the entire reason the dad moved to Alaska was to look for gold. the icing is buttercream, the rocks, tent, tools, logs, tent strings, EVERYTHING else was hand made with fondant. The river is CK sugar sparkles in 2 colors of blue. The gold nuggets in the pan and the "hidden nugget" in the river are painted with gold highliter. All items are "glued" down with piping gel for easy transport.
