Halloween Haunted House. The ghosts, bats, cats, gravestones and moon are sugar cookies and covered with thinned royal icing, and the house is gingerbread. Since it was my first time with gingerbread, I used pre-made cookies from Wilton, but assembled and decorated the house myself. The cake is Devil's Food cake (of course!) with chocolate ganache filling. This was for an English Department's meeting, so the tombstones have things that they wish would 'die'...the overuse of the word "Like", etc...

This was my Everest. I've wanted to make a gingerbread house for many years, but when I saw this Bad Boy in a magazine I knew I had to combine my need to build a gingerbread house with my favorite holiday - Halloween! After many hours of back breaking work, I finished the job!

I ran out of time on this one (again) and had to rush to finish it, so it's not as neat as I would have liked. Thank you to Ihatefondant, whose adorable cake I used as inspiration.

Our friends Henri and Jill are expecting their first child--and are in the thick of a MAJOR home renovation. I'm talking ripping out almost every surface. These people really know how to nest. ;-) 8 and 6 inch layers, fondant covered, fondant and gumpaste decorations. Trees and idea for a house on the side credit goes to dydemus and her gorgeous fairy tale cake.

Cake is covered with fondant. Light house is made of rice crispies treats and covered with fondant. Sail boat is solid chocolate with fondant sail. Figures and rocks are sugar paste. This was a lot of fun to make, but a little tricky to tranport due to the height of the light house.

I made this cake for my niece's 6th birthday. She had chosen "dogs" as her theme. This is my rendition of her golden retriever and bishon. Buttercream, fondant, and sugar paste. My niece helped me decorate it, of course.

My brother in law asked me to do this cake as a surprise for his wife for their anniversary. He wanted all of the adventures they have had together over the years. travels, buying a house, having their first baby... They loved it! Sorry for the jumbled picture. It was the best way to show all of the scenes on the cake without uploading 8 pictures! TFL!
