This is my first attempt at a sculpted/3D cake and the 5th cake I decorate. I cheated quite a bit. I bought the cake (madeira) because I only wanted to try the decorating part as I am a fairly confident baker. I also used frosting from a can to cover the cake underneath the fondant. The "bun" is too dark but I can't for the life of me achieve flesh color! Other than that, I am pretty happy with the way the cake turned out. It is a cake from Carol Deacon's "Perfect Party Cakes Made Easy".

I made this Hot Wheels cake for my Grandsons 2nd Birthday...It's Yellow Cake with Bavaian Creme Fill. The icing was all Buttercream and the "Hot Wheels" Logo was my first attempt at doing a butter cream transfer...I added the picture of my grandson to the butter cream logo after it was on the cake...I just attached the picture to a plastic cirlce so I wouldn't have bleed through from the icing.... The Monster trucks were purchased at Wal-Mart.

This was for my good friend Christ who turned 30. He LOVES the band the red hot chili peppers so I thought I would give him a cake with nothing but their symbol. It is buttercream frosting with a straberry cake.

This was really easy - loaf pans with the center cut out & reserved for the fries. I used little roll donuts...like Hostess Cakes - two for each hot dog & covered them in frosting. The mustard & ketchup is just frosting...the relish is fruit roll ups cut up.

Thanks To Doug for the advice on the loop.
I made this cake for my son's best friend. 30 med. Cupcakes covered with sandy color MMF. I made the loop and name sign from Gumpaste. Wrote with BC and Yellow wafers. I purchased the little sugar cars. It was just too hot to have chocolate only cars. The boys loved it. I was really happy with the end product.

Fondant covered wedding cake in lime green, turquoise, and hot pink! Marge and Homer Simpson topped the cake, which was for a dear friend's wedding. Thanks to MommaLlama for her wonderful assistance and to those who inspired me with the photos they shared here on Cake Central!

This cake was made for a girls 18th birthday. She chose the colors and wanted pink stars with green dots and outlined in black and this is what I came up with. I thought it was cute.

I carved the shape of the state of New Mexico out of a sheet cake. Frosted with BC, yellow and red, the state flag colors. State flag, hot air balloon, roadrunner, pump jack, derrick, and cactus are made out of royal icing. Tumbleweed is made of Frosted Mini wheat mixed with melted marshmallows. Derrick and Cactus are standing, 3D.

Coffee mug cake for a coffee lover. The cake ordered was just a marble cake and I added the chocolate ganache to the top for the coffee and gave it a nice swirl. The steam pieces are gumpaste as well as the handle. Started with the wondermold pan and carved it down a bit. Fondant covered with super pearl airbrushed.

I made this for my buddy who loves his jacuzzi and is huge San Diego Chargers fan. It is chocolate chip pound cake with layers of choc bc and chocolate kahlua mousse. The cake is covered in a thin layer of vanilla bc and then MMF for the jacuzzi panels and rim. The water is bc w/ some piping gel for shine. I made the figure, grass, rocks, and Chargers towel out of MMF. This took me 12+ hrs, but it was a lot of fun! Hopefully, the bday boy will love it. Thx to Aine2 for her fondant tutorial!

I was inspiried by a few mug pictures that were on the board. So I had to try it. This cake is for a coworker that loves hot chocolate and Bingo. The cake is 3 6" chocolate cakes covered in fondant. The bingo board and "Maxine" are fondant that I drew with edible markers. The handle is gumpaste.

This was an anniversay cake for a couple who loves their hot tub. The cake is two 6" rounds iced in buttercream. The figures are made from fondant using Lorraine's fabulous method and the bathing suits are also made of fondant. This was a collaboration between my sister and I.

This is a birthday cake for a Mexican themed birthday. Please note the fondant work is not bad, it is a cobblestone mold that I used. It does not show up on the picture well.

Yes... my first wedding cake! The Groom and I have been friends for 20ish years and this was my Wedding Gift to them... heck of a nice gift if I may say so! 5 Layers... 3 were French Vanilla Almond Sour Cream Cake with Raspberry Filling... 2 layers were Chocolate Fudge Cinnamon Sour Cream Cake with Strawberry Filling. I flavored the MMF with Cinnamon and Almond to match the layers of cake flavors.

My mom-in-law asked me to make this for a friend, kind of an inside joke about the hot dogs. Chocolate cake, chocolate buttercream, vanilla buttercream dogs, the empty space is for a topper of an angel holding a hot dog :D
