This was my first topsy turvy cake...and I thought it was going to be a disaster. I don't know why but my bottom tier settled, causing my fondant to sag and creating a funny shape. The customer was still delighted...they said it was all the more "topsy turvy"!! I used homemade marshmallow fondant for everything. This was also my first shot at a large fondant bow and ribbon roses. Fun!

10", 8", 6" yellow cake with basic buttercream and fondant accents. Flapper girl, fower, shoes, numbers made with gumpaste fondant mix. The numbers were LAST minute! I used the fondant/gumpaste mix, added tylose..rolled, cut 2 of each.applied glue, then the sticks and more glue then the matching one on top..pressed and laid them on a plate and microwave them for 13 seconds, then stuck the plate in front of the a/c to cool..oh yeah, rock hard in no time! This is the 'after' the fix..disaster pic uploaded too

First ever attempt at a carved cake + topsy turvy design. For my sister's "Mad Tea Party" birthday party. MFF fondant that failed me this time - made it on a hot day, used it on a cold rainy day, and the texture was awful - kept breaking and stretching and cracking!! Did my best with it anyway, 'cause I didn't have time or money to start over. The ribbon roses have hot pink disco dust on them. My sister loved it... I was just happy it didn't fall over in the car!

This cake was for my niece. The bottom cake was to look like the mad hatter's hat while the second tier used the queen of hearts crown as a border. THe top tier is Alice falling down the rabbit hole. THis was my first time working with gumpaste and first stacked fondant cake! TFL!!!

A 12", 9" and a giant cupcake(Wilton pan). All fondant with gumpaste accents. This is a REALLY large cake, but it was for my daughter. Yes, she's a tiny bit spoiled. This was my first try at a topsy turvy. It was considerably harder than I had envisioned. TFL!!

This cake was SOOO much fun to make. I'm glad It didn't fall over while I delivered it. I tried to make a fantasy flower to go on top... but it ended up NOT looking like a fantasy flower. Oh well... I got lots of compliments on the flower any way even though it didnt turn out as I had hoped. TFL!!!

My husband and I made this cake for a friend's thirteenth birthday. It was our first Topsy-Turvy cake. We learned a lot making it! The cake is a WASC with chocolate ganache filling. It is covered with fondant. The flowers have a piping gel center.

I was asked to create a topsy turvy 3x tier cake for a teacher at my Sons school who was celebrating her 50th birthday. I was told to 'go crazy' but it had to feature blue and yellow (her favourite colours) The top tier was caramel mudcake, 2nd white chocolate mudcake and 3rd tier was milk chocolate mudcake. I had never attempted a 3 tier topsy turvy before, but I was really happy with the proportions. There was over 4 kilos of chocolate baked into these cakes!

4 KG of fresh berries went on top of this cake (not including the 2 KG in the two bottles of berry coulis behind the cake and the 2.5KG inside the white berry mud!!)
9" and 6" tiers this is a choc wrapped madhatter (yes my 3rd madhatter this week!!)
i kind of didn't realise the difficulties in doing a choc wrap on a wonky cake!!!! NOT FUN!!! but once i fugured it out it went all right, working with red berries on a white surface is also a nightmare, thank god choclate is easier to clean than fondant lol!! this went up to a mountain resort for a cliff face wedding, i got to deliver it straight to the bride which was excitting!! she loved it and it colour matched her red rose and berry bouquets perfectly!!

I made this cake for my niece's 40th Birthday.

Done for a baby shower with an Alice in Wonderland theme. This is my first SUCCESSFUL topsy-turvy cake, but my 3rd attempt. Red velvet doctored mix, cream cheese icing filling, and cheesecake flavored buttercream. Blue diamonds and pearls are MMF; the rest is buttercream. A fun cake to make!

Made this cake at the request of a client. She and her sister are twins and are celebrating their 50th Birthday. They are full of life and wanted a cake that reflected their fun personalities and youth. So no "over the hill" references on this cake! It's a memory cake with various memories represented around each tier. It is divided into two color schemes to reflect their own color palates.
