This is a double layer, 12 by 12 cake. Cat is a FBCT...my first! The black ran a little, but apparently that happens!?! I wish it didn't. The squiggles and swirls on the top and sides are candy melts. Thanks to Satin and others on CC who inspired this cake!

My grandmother is a red hat lady. To celebrate her 77th birthday, I made this cake with the first letter of her name "H" on the hatbox, and a small banner with her birthdate. Everything is edible from the hatbox to the purple feather boa.

I made this fun cake for my son's birthday. The smiley face was made with the ball pan. I wanted to use rice krispies for the hat but to my dismay, my children had ate the cereal. Yikes! So since time was ticking away I just softened up some marshmallow a little bit and squished and cut them into a birthday hat kind of shape. It worked alright.

I did this hat box for a 60th birthday party. I trimmed off too much of the cake so it was shorter than I meant for it to be. It is buttercream with a fondant lid and MMF/RI decorations.

I made this for a party the other night. German Chocolate cake with mint buttercream and MMF. I used an 9" round and 8" square pan and then carved them. This was SO EASY! And, it renewed my faith in MMF after my wedding cake disaster. It was a hit at the party - and again... EASY!!!

These were made for a 9 year old girl who was having a birthday party with a Christmas theme. Her mom asked me to make cookies that she could put in the party favor bag. Both mom and daughter were thrilled with the cookies. I was pretty happy myself, for once. :-)

This cake was for a friend's co-worker. The chef where she works is having a baby and they call him Stewie (from Family Guy). The thing on Stewie's head is supposed to be a chef hat. The decorations on the side of the cake are plastic shower favors that I bought and put on with piping gel.

14" double layer iced in buttercream. Cowboy hat is also cake covered in mmf. All accents mmf with silver dragees. The brim did not seem to want to dry but overall I really liked this cake. Boots were made with a chocolate mold and dusted with cocoa for an aged look. They were extremely heavy and used quite a bit of chocolate. As always, inspiration came from cc. Thanks!!!!

I got this idea from another website (can't remember)! My son's cake for himself! I made this in a pyrex bowl and used a cupcake for the brim of the hat. My son is so into construction and firetrucks!

Here's a birthday cake for a man who loves to wear his tuxedo. I meant the hat to look like a top hat, but when it got on there it looked more like a gangster hat to me!! Oops!! It's a 14", 11", 8", and 7" (hat). The '80' is decorated sugar cookies with buttercream and dragees. I baked them with popsicle sticks in them to secure them to the cake.
